    New Pavement Question

Hey guys i need some quick help. I have heard before that it is potentially more dangerous to ride on a freshly paved road.... i think it had something to do with the chemicals. I was wondering if there was any truth behind that or if it's only dangerous at certain times. I have good tires on my bike so i'm not too worried, but figured I'd ask all the same. Thanks for the Input.

    Re: New Pavement Question

Fresh pavement can be greasy. It's a good idea to wait for a few good rainstorms to pass through before hammering it on new asphalt.

    Re: New Pavement Question

If you notice when new pavement is layed down, there's all the tire marks/trails going from the new pavement to the old pavement, that's the oil/greasy stuff you need to watch out for.

With new pavement, you can see the bluish/oily sheen right after a rain storm. Ice for a bike.

Why are you worried? There's no new pavement in Vermont anyhow.

Don't ride on new pavement between the hours of 4 and 6 pm. It's dangerous.

Dunno, they had treads. I didn't use warmers though, that's probably the issue.
