This is the way to start right? To get your racing license? I'm new to this so what else goes into it?

Yes, you need to complete the Penguin school, your rookie race without crashing, and enter 1 race that weekend to get your roadracing license

99% chance I'm doing it.... I will def. post up again though! Just wondering what else goes into this.... would LOVE to get my license and go racing! Any other costs involved? Besides the obvious... I'm talking about license fees, etc. Anything other than the school itself?

License fee for the year is $110, weekend entry for the track $25, Penguin school $220, and depending on what race you enter, $60 (sprint) or $120 (GT), plus your added bike costs, food, lodging and fuel for the weekend

I definatly want to take it. I'd rather have a more structured introduction to track riding.

I'm not in it for the liscense, although that'd be killer squid points I'd probably just attend track days... unless I get bit by the bug, and odds are I will

Do they supply a bike for the school?

    Oh the bug will bite

You can rent a bike from them, not sure on the cost tho, the bike is not included in the penguin class price

Talking about the bug biting? Did my first track day this year...... today went to Vanson's Leather, had my suit custom made.... an insane amount of money later and I cant wait for next season. Already signed up for 4 of Tony's days and plan on the Penguin school as well. Yikes

    Thanks for the link btw!

Hey guys, in additoin to my chassis and suspension business, I taught the Penguin Basic class for 15 years. I can help you with all the prepwork and show you what to do at the track. Maybe we should have a quick seminar on bike prep, safety wiring, protective gear what to bring etc... We could even take a week end and prep the bike in my shop, so you will have every thing done ahead of time. There is a lot to do at the track the day of the class and the key to having a good time is preparation what do you think???

To echo Pete's (gmdboston) post. Pete was my instructor at Penguin 4 years ago and did a masterful job of explaining track proceedures and bike prep. It would be time well spent if you are considering racing or even track days.
