    Looking for new leathers

I'm in the market for new leathers and these are these two that I'm looking at. Not looking to break the bank

I also want some advice on sizing from people who own these brands. I'm 5'8-9" and 160lbs. I think I'm a medium in the Cortech and a 42 in the Teknic (the SSTG guy had on a 44 and he's 5'11" 200lbs)

    Cortech Latigo RR

    Any advice would be appreciated

    Re: Looking for new leathers

I recently bought a Cortech Piuma jacket. I considered the Latigo jacket instead, but decided the Piuma was a little less sporty and more appropriate for me. I'd like to add the pants to the set at some point.

So far I am very happy with the coat. Helluva good value.

I have had 2 Teknic off the rack suits and both held up well to multiple crashes. They're made pretty solidly.

Don't know. I haven't been 170 since I was in my late teens.

That sizing should be about right. A 50 is a little big on me and I am 5'10 and 135 lbs.

You gained ten pounds since this morning? . I have a 2 piece teknic size 42 and its a tight fit for me at 5'5" 165.

Honestly you might not fit a euro suit because you are fat, the legs will probably be too long and the jacket will probably fit.

50 euro is a 40 us. You're going in the wrong direction.

Yes 50 euro. It's a euro suit so I used a euro size. But the 52 should be about right if it fits. Like greg said euro suits are a slimmer cut. The chicane however is a looser fit than the violator's that I wear.

I applaud you for wanting to get gear but don’t think of it as breaking the BANK. Think of it as reducing the injury you might receive if something happens. My you have many safe, sunny and enjoyable days when you ride.

yeah, 42 (52 euro) sounds about right. I'm an inch taller & 5lbs heavier and wear a 52 Dainese. Fits like a glove.

    Re: Looking for new leathers

I had a Teknic Chicane suit through my first couple season, multiple crashes and held up well. Good entry level suit for the money.

I'm 5' 10", 175lbs and the 54/44 fit snugly with a Bohn back protector so you probably right on with the 42/52.

    Re: Looking for new leathers

Chuck raced in teknics and liked them. When he had one of them out for repairs he bought an agv and was not happy with it. Don't remember specifics but I remember the thread. I've had a teknik rage that I've had for about 5 years now? It held up wonderfully. Teknic makes very sturdy stuff for the money.

So I did end up getting new leathers and they're exponentially nicer than the ones I posted interest in. Anyway, these are unbelievably nice

It's the AGV Laguna and it's sweeettttt

    Nice.

What's the bottom line for something like that, if you don't mind sharing.

    Re: Looking for new leathers

Agv makes good stuff. I had their lower end 2 piece that I crash tested and it held up fine. Now I have Teknic Violator 1 piece, which I like more. But I'm sure higher end AGV is nice too.

I've heard it comparable to far more expensive suits.

btw I might be moving into the somerville area, I'm in JP now but will be working in central square starting next week

Very nice leathers. You paid $400? Any chance I can get in on that deal?
