    Well, picked it up yesterday

Finally got my funds together to get my track bike after putting a deposit on her. I left my house with a buddy to pick it up in Eastham. (Cape)
Not a bad ride and we got there just after 8:00 am. His fucking truck had 2 inches of is in the bed, so when we got there, we hadda chop it ou. No poblem on that and we got it in no proble. 4 point tie down and we headed home.
Sux, I wanna take this bitch for a ride!
Here are a couple of pics of it in my driveway.

Nice bike. What are you doing for mods before it hits the track?

Front brake pads and maybe some braided lines. It's a little money, but a fixed set of footpegs will help keep the bike off the ground while crashing.

Oh yeah, pads too, like EBC HH's... Those will be good enough.

Pazzo's don't do much other than make the levers feel different in your hands.

My ZX is 100% stock. Only stuff I've done to it is what I listed above (Tires, GMD, Pads), plus I lowered the front a tad for quicker steering response. Those are the essentials for a track day bike so take care of that first... Then get into frame protection, then more into the suspen$ion, then bling (rearsets, Pazzos, clip-ons, exahaust, Power Commander, bodywork etc, whatever) cuz that stuff just isn't necessary.

At least, that's my way of doing it.

Nice ride!! Congrats. That's going to be fun. With some luck, I'll be picking up a new (well, an 06 with few road miles) this week.

    Brendan, nice ride.

If you're going to make it ONLY a track bike, and you've already dumped that much money on it, might as well get some real track plastics (then sell your mint ones for mad $$). Get some good tires. Safety wire it (just takes time).

    Well, picked it up yesterday

If it came with the same tires that the 1000 gets I'd leave them on. I usually ditch the stock rubber immediately, but the tires that came on the 07 1K are actually really impressive. I think I remember reading somewhere that the 1000 got a tire designed specifically for it... dunno.
If it's the same rubber, though, I'd consider it track-worthy for sure.

Bah... different tires. The 1K has BT015R's (not sure if the "R" designation means anything)
You certainly wouldn't regret a set of new tires for the track... The new Pilot Powers are sticky as hell.

thats for sure....cheap race plastics = $400ish....money from stock = $1200ish....profit = everything else you want to do to the bike

Great bike! That's what I would want to replace my 636.

There is nothing needed to run that bike at the track. Stock supersports are way more capable off the dealership floor than 90% of the riders can even use. I ran 2 track days on the stock rubber and brake pads and it was great. Yes, the HH pads and track rubber were an improvement, but no need to hurry.

Agreed, You really don't need to mod the suspension either. Just set the sag and adjust the clickers as needed.

Yep... no money needs to be spent on that bike. Maybe get some spare levers and other commonly broken parts.

If it really is a track bike, take the time to safety wire it up - specifically these items.

Oil Filter, Oil Drain bolt, Brake Caliper bolts.

Set the suspension properly (free at a TTD) and smile!

Now... if you want to make it more crash worthy... that is fine too. Go for frame sliders, solid mount footpegs, and track bodywork.
