Thought I would post some new pictures of the bike I have been working on:
1978 Suzuki GS1000s
2004 GSXR1000 front forks and brakes with cbr900rr rotors
2004 GSXR rear shock piggybacked with 1 stock shock
1995 CBR900RR wheels/rear brake
1978 Ducati 850GT gas tank
aftermarket rearsets, with custom mounting brackets
HD Dyna mufflers, gutted and shortened
swingarm notched to accept 190 series tire and braced for cantilevered shocks
offset 530 front sprocket to accomodate wider rear wheel
Airtech solo seat
homemade rear subframe and rear shock mounts
pazzo knock off levers
aftermarket headlight
original ducati screw on gas cap cut out with Flip up style gas cap welded back in
aftermarket clip ons
I think that is it for the time being
Got a ways to go, but most of the major fabrication work is done. She runs quite well, although I may have overcompensated when I rejetted for the open exhaust and velocity stacks, and my have to drop the main jets down a size. Have to wait and see how it feels once I ride it

That thing is pretty cool. Can we get a sound clip.
possibly, once I get it running again, and i find a decent mic![]()

Well thats just awesome lookin! Nice work!
that thing is pimp, always wanted to build a bike like this by myself. can't wait to see it in a 100% finished state
thanks. It will look even better when its finished, still have a bunch left to do:
-mount for tailight
-gauges
-chain rub on swingarm
-fab tray for battery
-petcocks for gastank. this will be the tough one. obviously, this tank was never meant to fit on an inline four. the hole for the petcocks are not in the best location. I haven't decided if I am going to try and put them in the original mounting location, or move to someplace where there is more clearance
-machine spacers for front wheel/axle
-front fender
and a bunch of other stuff i am sure, but thats all I can think of for now!

That's really cool. Is there any way you could replace the black pipes with mandrel bent pipes? Would look better without the wrinkles. I think any custom exhaust shop could whip some up for you on the cheap.
I have had quite a few people say something about the cheapo exhaust bends. Yes, I will probably replace them with some mandrel bent pieces. I used the cheap stuff for proof of concept more than anything...I wanted to see how it would look before I spent the money on good mandrel pipe. I would just buy the bends and weld them together myself. Well see what happens

Nice pics! Good-looking Jetta you have too.
I've seen Lak's projects and watched him in action. His talent and knowledge with bikes blows my mind.
Thanks Gumby! Yeah, I got that Jetta from some shady used car salesman that looks a lot like you!

I like it! Subscribed!
That looks great man! Why the 2 shocks?
-Alex
I can resist everything but Pete's mom.
the two shock idea was based on a bike I saw in Barnetts that had dual cantilevered shocks. Using the two stock GS shocks in this manner proved to be way to soft and undersprung, so, instead of finding two more suitable shocks with higher spring rates, I had a GSXR rear shock laying around and it fit right in there with no modification, and feels pretty good just "sitting on the bike". Well, if I just used the GSXR shock, it would be offset to the left. I figured "why don't I use the GSXR shock as well as the one of the stock shocks?" for a unique asymetric look. Functionally speaking, the one stock shock on there is for looks more than anything. It does increase the overall spring rate a bit, but really does nothing to alter damping

It definitely looks cool as hell.

Thansk man, glad you like it. Wish it was going to be mine to keep, but it belongs to another![]()

That's really great. Very, very cool.

You did that to an S model? Why! Those things are rare, should have sold it and bought an E model, the profit would have paid for the whole project!
Don't forget to secure the exhaust brackets .......
I'm jealous of your skills here. Very cool bike man.
very sexy bike!
Nice build...

yep, it is an "S" model, Wes Cooley! It was missing all the cool parts though, namely the gas tank and fairing, so it is basically a garden variety GS. Not my bike though, so I didn;t really have a choice![]()

Let me know if you are taking applications for a test pilot? Looking forward to seeing this build once it is completed.
