You cannot do your motorcycle license test on a CanAm in MA
I was referring to MA, sorry.
My problem is not the power of the grom, but the wheel size. Training Wheels has 125cc bikes with 17' wheels.

I've seen students excel on these little bikes. If they were on a heavier 250 I believe they would have struggled more with the weight of the bike instead of being able to concentrate on the basics.
I equate this to a child learning on a strider bike before going to a bicycle. It allows them to concentrate on less at once to accelerate the pace of learning.
anyone tried the grom clones?
$1,300 brand new LOL
now that I'm street bike-less, I am contemplating a random interim bike to ride a year and trash/sell. Seems like grom/clone ownership would give a good full year of hooligan life.
Another Crack smoker........... LOLOL 6K
Super waste of money.............LOLOL
There’s an ass for every seat, not everyone can be a racer ;)
Picked up a used Grom last weekend. Now I have a few snowy months to figure out what I'm going to do with it. :) Hopefully Penguin does some more of those sub-500cc races next year.
I also happened to have a 2015 Grom find it’s way into my garage about a month ago. Thing is hella fun, love it for my 20 minute, secondary roads commute.
One of my friends told me about a kart track a couple hours away that does Grom track days - might look into that for next year.
Considering a Grom for mainly pit bike duty next season, but would love something to take to the kart tracks as well. I've heard that if I want something for that dual purpose and competing in something like NJ MiniGP then I should look at a minimoto instead?
Has anyone had both and would weigh in with a recommendation? Seeing lots of fun looking options out there like KLX110s, CRF150s, TTR's... I don't really care about it being street legal right now.
Also that new Benelli is pretty enticing from a price perspective.
I believe that Kurtz has a XR100 for sale with dirt and supermoto wheels.

Having a bike plated allows you to ride outside the tunnel. This is great for those high speed runs to the package store/gas station for *ahem* supplies.
Definitely considered it and as much as I'd love a city gas ripper there may be an e-bike in my future for those kind of local runs. Better to be able to keep anything of value like that inside and out of sight out of mind around the greater NYC area...
That's a nice lead Matt, looks like a lot of fun for short money.
I'm up over 7000 miles on my Z125 and still love the thing. I still commute on it when the night isn't too cold, but I commuted on it almost every day from April until October this year. If I ever killed it, I would replace it with another one without a doubt in my mind.
I saw the new Honda Monkey in the flesh the other day. It is a bigger bike than the Grom by 10%. The best feature is the seat. Real padding. Worst feature is it's not set up for two up riding. I do shuttle my GF around on the Grom at the track.
The Monkey is a good looking bike. Love the Yellow tank, frame and rear suspension springs
