    Pipe Sleeves

    Hey guys,

What is the big difference between the exhaust sleeves other than looks?

Is Carbon Fiber less hot than Titanium or Stainless Steel?

I want one that will give me less of a burn if I fall of the bike again

With aftermarket "cans" the big differance is weight.
Most are straight shots. Very little baffling. Stockers have a lot of baffling. You can see right through aftermarket cans and you can't see through stock. Also, aftermarket cans tend to be hotter than stock.
Your SV only has one pipe right? So just fall off the other side!! j/k!! heeheehee...

The "sleeves" are called slip-ons. One of the big differences is sound level: aftermarket slip-ons are louder, and less resrtictive in the exhaust flow.
Technicaly this means you could bring in more fuel-air mixture if your exhaust is less restrictive; yielding more power.

You mentioned looks, this too is a large factor in purchase decisions.

As for heat? I think you're on your own. I haven't heard of any with heat resistance.

You could ditch the whole exhaust system and go with a full header & undertail exhaust.

Slip ons for an SV are a PIA, the stock system is one piece meaning you have to hacksaw the pipe.
Full systems for SV's are compettivly priced with slip ons for many other bikes, the cheapest aftermarket system for the SV is Vance & Hines, they sound like a kazoo though until you have 30k on them and the packing is burnt out

Some aftermaktet systems for the SV have particular problems like conflicts with the pillon pegs & access to oil filter most aftermarket exaust for the SV weigh about 7-8 lbs less than stock, header pipes are larger diameter and single wall (the reason they get hotter)

I've heard a single pipe Rengade. It was real nice. Very twin friendly.

I thought about undertail pipes.... but what about passengers?? I guess in my case, it's better not to have them... cause they will fall and hurt their ass

    teehee

So basically carbin fiber does nothing but just looks good. I thought at least the plastic will cool it a bit...

I like the name Yoshi sounds like Yoshi from Mario. Performance wise... I dont really care... I barely go out of 4th anyway. PinHead can contest to that

Um, I think I heard from someone on this board that Yosh sounds like shit on SV's.
I maybe wrong, but I think that's what he said.
The Renegade system I heard wasn't undertail. It was high mount, with single can.
    I'll find it...

    This is what I heard.

And only $359. It's "Cut and Paste" though.

    Low mount.

All of their cans are available Stainless, Carbon, or Ti.
And this is only the tip of the iceberg!!

those renegades are the nicest sounding cans i have heard on the SV's. I am definitely biased to the undertail systems, dont worry about passengers, make them get their own bikes.

I'd love to get a renegade setup...

The undertail looks cool but they want you to let them do the work IIIRC, and it doesn't make as much power as the other setups.

If it sound's anything like the Renegades on Gerard's Mille it's good for me.

okay guys... so you are saying the Renagade cut and paste one (slip on) is a good deal and sounds good?

hm... i think i might get it next year when spring comes... that should give me some time to think/debate.

i like the yoshi because of their logo design

but if you guys are speaking from experience that the Renagade sounds better, than i trust ya'll.

but i think my wallet maybe forcing me to postpone the pipes till next year
