Pirelli Diablo Superbiker App is DANGEROUS

to your license that is! I decided to try it out this evening. I needed gas, so I turned on the app and headed up for the top of 116. Thes gas is expensive as hell, but the ride is great.

Anyhoo, I'm heading into the first set of esses on my way out of town and I'm thinkin, "I wonder what my lean angle can be through this section", and I'm rolling on to enter the first bend at about 75 when the local constable comes into view. Doh! I get n the brakes and throw my hand up like I got red flagged. He's eyeballing me just shaking his head. I give him a nod and continue on. He doesn't light me up. Phew.

Now I'm on 116 and I get stuck behind traffic in the deerfield curves, so I play nice. As usual, everyone has turned off by the time I get to the curves above conway, so I start to get into it. I'm rockin and rollin, enjoying my slick rear tire when I see a car being tailgated closely coming the other way. I get out of the throttle and onto the brake when the car in back shows itself. Its another local deputy! Luckily he was too close behind the car to get me on radar, and I had slowed up by the time he nosed out to get a signal on me.

Frig, that's 2 near misses in one spin to get gas. It's been years since I've been stopped on a bike. I blame the APP! I was only able to acheive 41 degrees of lean on this aborted mission, though it also pegged my top speed at 136mph??? My motard can't get close to that

Isn't the objective to keep the bike upright?

Paul, this App sounds like a challenge. Hmmm, I will post later with my winning stats. LOL

Oh god, that's exactly why you have to agree to a disclaimer before every ride!

Lean angle is a problem on a motard because if you're riding foot out you stay upright while the bike is cranked over.

Ya, the phone is in my pocket, so that is a factor. I don't ride foot out very often. The roads just aren't tight enough for that around here.

The lean angle isn't all that accurate. When I tested the app I threw the phone on the dash of my truck and max lean was -11*. Yahhh...umm...no.

I believe you would have to have the phone mounted perfectly vertical on the bike for the angle to be calculated correctly. My phone has an app for acting as a level and it seems quite accurate. In a pocket, I could see it measuring something accurately, but what I just don't know.

I assume it just calibrates itself according to it's position in your pocket or whatever. I'm betting that the lean angle is the most accurate data in that package. It doesn't depend on a GPS signal.
