This is going to be my first trip up to Laconia, and I was wondering if you guys usually just get hotel rooms, camp, or just ride up for the day.
I'm leaning towards getting a hotel room but I'm guessing that's something I should look into now before they get all booked up. Any recommendations?
Honestly? If you can find anything north of Concord, book it now...

Rent a big lake house with a 30 foot dock in Center Harbor or some place quiet. Then let me use the dock.![]()
I stay away from Laconia during bike week as much as possible

Me too, at least by road anyway, it's still nice by boat. I hate traffic and loud bikes.Originally posted by RandyO

I am going too this year, after I get back from Myrtle BEach bike week (ha ha), I stay in Lincoln which is 40 miles north of laconia, that way it is nice and quiet when I am done being a biker for the day. The ride down to Laconia is better than the actual strip itself.
I haven't gone up there since the AMA left. I started going in 76, and started camping at the track in 80. If you like camping, it is still a good deal to camp at the track. You can camp in the belly of the beast up on animal hill, or go down to the "family" camping area. The family area is quiet enough, and a little bit closer to the pit entrance. You must get there as early as you can{Friday morning before the gates open}, so you can stake out your territory. If you are an early riser, get to the showers pronto, before the hot water runs out. Up on the hill, gee, all manner of hooliganism going on up there. Lots of fun to watch. Be nice to the rent-a-cops. Sometimes they are looking for an excuse to be cops. If you don't have a pit bike, or a bicycle with you, good walking shoes are definately in order. Lots of good food under the front straight bleachers, if you don't cook in camp. I could go on, many years of memories. Something to consider.
Also at the track it is cheap cause it is like $125 or something for the couple days. And that gets you into the pits, and races. Nevermind going to Laconia as well. Cheaper than anywhere you can rent.
There's really no 'animal hill' anymore...Originally posted by Tabby

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
Should be there this year again with some friends. We'll be at Gunstock. Last year we had a blast on a long cruise, town was interesting but the the rain sucked. Hopefully it will be better this year.
Jay! Seriously, no animal hill? Did they change the camping rules, or did it just sort of die down since the AMA left. Just curious.
Some may still call it Animal Hill, but it's NOTHING like it was. Not even close...

A'ight! When ya'll get your shit figured out for this year, let us know. I take that week off, plus the following Monday (to recoop). We'll figure out a way to hook up. We live about 20 minutes from just about all of it (track, Weirs, Laconia, Gunstock, etc...)

I don't go down town anymore since the loudon clasic isn't really even going on this year I might be down at virginia racing for double points.
A couple things I saw at animal hill last year.
Plywood fire trying to smoke out turn 9 of our sunday races
6 naked girls driving around in the back of a pickup truck (and guys chasing it)
4-5 burnout boards getting put to good use
Lots of crashes in the dirt and mud trying to ride back to the tent after popping a tire on the burnout boards
I don't remember the rest we were drinking a lot
lots and lot and lots of booze and drunken antics
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
Thank goodness! There is still hope for humanity!
