    planning an overnight trip

I am planning a trip somewhere, staying the night and riding back. Not sure of were I want to go, I was hoping some of your iron butt guys could help me out....

I'd like it to ride around 4-500mi's each day, no highway and lots of twisties...

help a brotha out....i was thinking RI to CT up western MA, into VT, NH and into maine....but I would go to western NY..really doesnt matter

My honest recommendation - do western NY and Pennsylvania. You might think about riding out to Mid-Ohio raceway, there are some absolutely incredible roads through Pennsylvania. The pavement is nice, and they actually make the curve signs correspond with how sharp of a curve it is.

There is actually a Holiday Inn somewhere in PA (my Dad used to go out there often) with a motorcycle-specific carport, right in front of the front desk (so no one messes with your bike.)

If you end up coming up towards VT, look me up.

My vote would be western NY.. if you're anything like me and many others who have done VT/NH to death.

A few weeks ago I went for a ride down to Duchess County and in the Catskills a bit. That was fun. You could do something like that and then start heading north up to the Adirondack State Park.

    Ryan,

I was trying to put something together for a ride out to the Adirondacks. Couldn't get any takers. While researching, I saw some cheap places out there to stay, roads look tasty too.

I tried to get some of the guys I ride with to ride out. I looked at some places to stay such as the Big Moose Inn. or a few other cheap $$$ motels that are in the southern part of the Adirondack State Park.

As far as routes, I had wanted to take route 2 west into Albany for lunch. Then just look at the map to get to the destination. I didn't plan any routes, just figured I'd mark the gas stations from Yahoo Maps into my GPS and find different routes through the mountains.

Maybe some other guys from here can suggest roads in NY.

If you need route ideas for Northern NH, I have some pretty tasty routes to try. One is already on grouprider....more to come.

    planning an overnight trip

a couple years ago, I did a weekend trip out to central NY for a family get together I rode out theru birkshires and catskills to my destination, (norwich) then the way back, I went to Ilion Gorge and into the adirondacks, including tracy road, then across crown point bridge Rt 17 to 100 and other back roads back home

Ilion gorge is a worthwhile destination, a lot of sweeping rural new york farmland, Ilion gorge itself is about 5-6 mile of deals gap caliber twisties then nice sweeping routes thru the adirondack forests and tracey road is another sweet twistie that is a worthwhile destination, and to complete the loop Appalachia gap on Rt 17 and granville gulf on rt 100

I also recommend the Dak's. I grew up in upstate NY and learned/loved riding the roads up there. RandyO's route is a good one plus there are many more throughout the park. You could spend a weekend riding around there and have a blast. This is the best time of the year up there for traffic (just before the color change) and tourist are fewer in general. Let me know when you go I might try and make the ride.

P.s.- the Big Moose is a great place. I got hitched in the Chapel next to it.

The adirondacks are great for riding, went that route to Ontario in the begining of August. Sweet smooth roads little traffic and good speeds.

If rich doesn't give you the specifics, I'll PM them to you. Also, I'll introduce you to Tracy Road in NY.

Once your north of Stowe Vermont
Pretty much all of them just stay clear of Burlington

RT 108 Through smugglers notch is just kinky.

You can get the Official VT Map as there are some numbered roads and other ones that have dirt sections. The official and AAA maps call them out.

Speed limit through Stowe only LEOS and they are mean

I am serious If you go there just find Timmyduck on ODFU
