    How to plug?

anyone wanna show me? i got a TINY freakin puncture in my front & just wanna be able to friggin ride this weekend. i haven't been on a decent ride in over a month

i can barely shove a coathanger in there... and that actually plugs it up, but it's a little impractical to ride around w/a coathanger stickin in your tire

Doesn't need to be a temp fix man... unless your front is really shot...

In any case, get the plug kit from autozone. Should have a reamer tool (a conical round file), a plug tool (kinda looks like a T handle with a needle eye shaped end with a slot cut at the top of the eye), some plugs (rubber strips coated in guey stuff) and some plug glue.

Plugging is dirt simple, and the instruction on the package should give you enough info, but the basic steps are:

    1. Ream out the hole with the reamer (makes the hole bigger, and cleans the edges/preps edges of hole for plug)
    2. Put a plug in the plug tool
    3. Put some plug glue around the hole
    4. Push the plug into the hole, and pull the plug tool straight out
    5. Use exacto knife to trim excess plug
    6. Wait appropriate time, fill, and ride

    Cheers,
    Chris

But when we ride very fast motorcycles, we ride with immaculate sanity. We might abuse a substance here and there, but only when it's right. The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. If you go slow and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.

    How to plug?

I never trusted a plug in an MC tire but drive around on 4 wheels with my "autozone" type plugs indefinitely.

If your frisky and can patch from the inside then thats a permanent repair

It will be fine just don't speed or use the brakes

    How to plug?

if your gonna plug your tire do it safely man make sure you get the plug and patch kit. It has a plug that you pull through and a patch that seals up the backside. Go to NAPA and get them. Much better than standard plugs

    How to plug?

Pete, like I told you yesterday, get the Stop & Go Tire plug gun kit. (49.95 at whitehorsepress.com) A bit pricey but... looking at the 208 I plugged from the inside when I took it off, the plug was in fantastic condition after about 2k miles and some time on the burnout board at Jay's last year. You may consider swapping the plug out after a few miles, but I am now sold on plugging. Especially when you get thjat brand new tire and pick up a nail in 100 miles or so. That is a bitch. Very portable unit...can be kept right in the tank bag. Of course Co2 helps too. LOL

oh DAMN... 50 bucks? the tire isn't gonna be on there for much longer anyway... plannin on gettin new tires in a couple months anyway. i just wanna be able to ride it soon.

i also don't wanna have to take the tire all the way off the rim.... big ole PITA.

You plug it while its on the bike. The concept is to have something in the bag when you're in Vermont on a sunday and have no other way of fixing the tire...think about it.

    How to plug?

    TRIPPLE POOOSSST

Well, i suppose if the thing works multiple times while on the rim it's a more worth it, but 50 bucks is 1/2 the price of a new tire. i think i'm just gonna get a cheap plug kit form autozone & plug it tomorrow... maybe get some riding in on Sunday evening and order up some tires in a week or two. if i puncture the new one, THEN i'll pick up some of your fancy 50 dollar "magic in a bottle"
