    Polaris Slingshot

    http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/933/18...de-Review.aspx

As someone who has never thought much of those Can-Am Spyders, I think this thing looks like an absolute blast. It will be considered a three-wheeled motorcycle in most states so M endorsement and helmet would be a must. I'm impressed Polaris was able to make a three wheel vehicle with side by side seating and steering wheel and able to classify it as a motorcycle. That's a lot of crash test/bumper/airbag bs they were able to avoid. Looks to have more in common with a car to me. I work right down the street so I can't wait to see these sitting in MOM's parking lot. $20,000-$24,000 isn't too bad when you compare it to what little competition is out there.

    A motorcycle built for quadtards.

    Re: Polaris Slingshot

I have had a few trex's & they are a blast but cost over $60k new & over $30k used. This is cheap compared to anything in its class. It will be a blast to ride if anything like a Trex. Interested to know how it will be with a car engine that only revs to 7k rpm tho & weight is 1700 pounds compared to 1200 of the trex, but has 166 Tq. Sounds like a good time to me either way. Def ordering one as soon as I can, sure it will be just in time for winter lol. Who knows we get enough of them we can start racing up at Loudon in a new class!!! Ya buddy

I suspect that they don't have the cornering ability of the T-Rex, I did not realize their price tag had jumped to $60k, that explains a lot, when they first came out, they were only $25k

when rochester motorsprts had them they were north of 40k. polaris claims just under .9Gs and with the engine over the front wheels, it may stick a little better. i dont think the Trex comes with ABS, ESC, and TC like the polaris does either. the price point is good. id love to take one for a spin to see if its everthing id want it to be. id also expect it to get 40+MPG since the cobalt did almost that and probably weighs twice as much

This thing is 1 wheel away from being awesome. Can't understand the 3 wheeler craze. Give it most of the characteristics of an ultra light weight track car but limit it's traction and handling abilities by using a single rear wheel? Completely boneheaded. Either use 2 wheels, or 4. Very simple.

3 wheels means it doesn't have to meet a metric boat load of safety requirements that would delay the launch, up the cost and lower the performance. It also means you don't have to balance it, opening it up to a much larger potential market of buyers.

If you don't understand the 3 wheeler craze, it's because you don't understand the complex safety requirements of a 4 wheeled vehicle vs motorcycle/trike.

In other words, a lot of people would love to build, sell, buy, use a 4-wheeled version of something like this, but they can't because government.

I understand from a marketing, sales, a development perspective perfectly well. I just don't understand, unless your name is Kenny Fucking Powers, why anyone would want to own or drive one of these things.

when RMS first had them they were only $25k, they were up to $40k + when they stopped selling them, went for a ride once, T-rex cornering is comparable to a F1, you do want to be wearing a seat belt or you will fall out

to a point i agree with this. hoping there is a way to by pass the TC and ESC at least. i know that when riding the Spyder, just when things are about to get fun and the TC kicks in and cuts the power dramatically

I'm thinking at least a great track vehicle on CAR days, thing should be a blast at Thompson.

just because it has 3 wheels doesn't mean it's a motorcycle replacement for leppers, it's a funky, cool roadster. The Can-Am Spyder may be considered a trike / motorcycle replacement, but not this thing.
