First post, first bike UPDATED with photo

hey what's up everybody first time on the forum was recommended to me by another forum. Well seeing how I have my first motorcycle figured I should check out a a site that could help me out, get involved, and learn a lot about one I'm getting into.

I picked up a 1974 Honda CB750F. I can't wait for the spring. I've been looking forward to this for some time no, owning my own bike. I read in a little in the past I have my license I went to Beverly cycles 128 and took the learning class and I'm feeling real good about having my first bike.

Well I have one question before I leave my first post does anyone have any recommendations for a mechanic that works on the North Shore and has experience with these older Honda bikes? Come march I also need to get it inspected for a sticker so I'm going to need a place to get that done as well ideally It would be the same place as the mechanic, any suggestions?

FYI: I'm new to the forum so its not letting me attach a picture just yet. as soon as I'm allowed, ill post a picture of the new to me ride!

Try giving Rick Claxton a call at Claxton Power Sports in Salisbury. 978-961-0475 He might be able to give you some guidance.

I get my bike inspected at Gypsy Cycles on Route 1 in Rowley (289 Newburyport Turnpike).

    And welcome!

Thanks everyone. picking up gear as I go. I have a helmet, Shoei RF1100 and a jacket, leather with armor. I have no intention of riding without gear at all times. My wife would kill me!!!!

dontpanic thanks for the advice. I'll look into both places. I appreciate it.

Welcome to the Shitshow. I love old CB's. Venture down to Motorcycle Night in Lowell, Ma. Every Tuesday May to October. There is a large gathering of NESR riders each week at the flag pole.

I ave absolutely no idea what is on it, This is my first bike. I'm almost completely New to them.
I can tear down a cars, suspension, break system, basic maintance, or do bolt on work. Bikes know very little about. This is going to be fun.

Sheppo, I will defiantly hit up motorcycle night.

Welcome. If your into wrenching cars you'll soon find that bikes are so stupid simple compared to cars that there will be nothing you won't be able to handle on a bike. Just about everything is also light enough to pick up by yourself including the engine and tranny.

I'm a gear head. Love wrenching on my rides. I got married and picked up a newer car so I haven't touched it, don't want to screw with a new car for warranty reasons, and I'm piss bored with not having something to work on. I'm going to ride "as is" this summer, but lots of projects are getting lined up in my head for the winter.

I already picked up the Haynes and Clymer Manual to start reading up

Lots of great info here for those of us wrenching on our own. Before you go out and buy any specialized tools check with NESRIANS about maybe borrowing one first.
