    Posting Routes?

Not arguing for or against really. I'm still very much up in the air about it. To post or not to post? Sometimes I see a route posted and I think, "WTF???". Yet other times I feel it's perfectly safe to post 'em. I can't make up my mind with this...

    Posting Routes?

I'd say it depends on the ride and I say leave it up to the discression of whoever posts and leads the ride. after all. is there an "official" NESR ride? when a ride is posted, peeps can choose to ride or not, if posting the route offends them then they don't need to show up.

I usually never know the exact route I am going to take anyway.

I can see both sides of the arguement. Although myself being new to NE any advise is good. On that same note a private message will solve the problem for those actually interested (who aren't the man.)

I say stop being paranoid...LOL I just think cops are everywhere anyway, I see them everywhere I go when I ride. What can you do about it...and yes, I think they know anyway. Mainly, I say main roads are not a problem to post, as everyone including cops know where they are. But I have been on "secret back roads" last season with a small group of SRNE...and I have to say WOW....and I'm sure cops are not driving these roads very frequently....and they were the most gorgeous roads! Those, I say keep them SECRET. Altho it's sad for newbies like me who will never know about them. It's ok, I know I'll find some new ones in the Berkshires as I ride more and more....

What's really at risk? The state roads out here are all well known. The nice sections are routinely exploited by those with little concern for the ramifications of their actions. And as cell phone coverage expands, the resultant complaints will no doubt be cause for increased policing. The more spodes that are out there, the less likely responsible riders like us will bear the brunt of irritated enforcers' reduced tolerance. So sure, I'll pass along the easy-to-follow roads with some nice turns to them, as others have passed along that info to me. There are plenty of other roads out there worth finding & riding.

Just for the record, no. There is no such thing as an 'NESR Ride'. No one has the authority to claim any such ride, nor do we condone any such claim...

We are simply here to provide a medium for which people can chose whether or not to participate in any announced 'group ride'...

I'd have to say let's wait and see. If during the beginning of our season, members are getting tagged on rides that are posted, then we may want to rethink it and only post check points so others that can't start, can meet up and join the group.

If during the first few rides that members are taking do not cause problems, then I am all for posting routes and getting as many people together that can make it.

    Posting Routes?

I've never seen any problem w/:

"meet up at ______ at _____ o'clock... I know some great roads in the _____ area, gotta route that should take us _____ hours or so. when we meet, if you know some killer roads in that area, we can add them as we see fit"

...as a ride-post format. gives the general idea of where it's going to take place, doesn't risk giving out too much info. if someone thinks they might want to join up en route... PM.

    seems simple to me...

I don't think routes should EVER be posted.

I KNOW that the police (and insurance companies) monitor sport bike forums.

I don't ride a sportbike, so it's all good to post the routes. Squids only last so long on those good roads anyways. I think it will get a lot more good riders out there than the two or three squids that are gunna come and get stopped and not ever come back.

    ON TOPIC NOW

I am on the fence on this one?? Not really sure if cops would have time to research on-line to find potential speeding bikes in certain area's. How do they really know if we are even going to be breaking any laws or what time we would be at any certain point on posted routes?

In my mind it would be a waste of their time to come here looking for suspects.. Plus any cop eventually learns all the hot spots for speeding in their towns and tend to watch those spots.

I say post um if ya got em.... I ussualy just post a meet spot/time and possible area heading towards. To much effort to go and map out the whole ride here... Plus routes can sometimes change while chatting at the meet spots, because someone may know a better more twisty route altered of what was already planned.. I always love finding new routes to explore!

While I've got no problem with offering up some decent routes that are popular, posting any actual 'ride route' would most definitely be something I'd not do, prior to or afterwards -- for many reasons.
