Throttle response on the 701 is annoying at low- to low-mid RPMs, and runs crazy hot even when unflogged. Basic reading indicates this is the fault of super-lean stock fueling, to be addressed with a Power Commander. Subsequent reading indicates the closed-loop system will actively fight (and ultimately conquer) the Power Commander below mid-high RPM.
I have a strong preference for leaving all the OEM emissions equipment on the bike, but kneecapping a motor like this one is...philosophically uncomfortable. Let us not forget (NOT forget) the burn risk to curious bystanders or children who may brush against the exhaust can after parking.
