    Pricing Assistance

    Hey everyone,

Today I went to look at a 2009 CBR600RR with 8-9k miles. It had the following visually noticed aftermarket parts.

    ASV Levers
    Rizoma Metal grips
    Powdercoated LED rear pegs
    Corbin Seat
Akro Exhaust (not sure if it is full or slip-on)

Probably some other stuff that I had not noticed. My question is what would be a reasonable offer for this bike. The dealer wants $9300 for the bike and I know that is insanely high. I am going to make an offer but want to make sure that it is reasonable and was thinking around 7-7.5k. Am I still thinking too much?

6500 is more like a fair price. Everything but te exhaust adds zero value.

I can pretty much guarantee the dealer won't take leas than $8500.

Wow, $9300 for an 09? I bought a new 2011 R6 special edition for less than that, brand new a bit over 2 months ago.
Degs is spot on, $6,500...maybe $7k

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't new ones selling for less than that?

    Almost 3 year old bike.

    Re: Pricing Assistance

Yes I bought my 2011 cbr for $9674 with 0 miles which is why I knew it was priced high. I would never pay the sticker price on a used bike. I was going to try not to buy a new bike but I think they price the used in a way to make people go towards the new lol

yea but both dealers and insurance companies go by market value rather than retail value. Is there a site to check market values for different areas?

KBB provides values for the region that's based on the zip code you enter, so it is a local retail market value based on similar actual dealership sales of that particular (used) model. The sample size for bike sales is small so it can be argued KBB doesn't have a big enough sample for an average value, but it's a piece of information you can use to negotiate price.

KBB also lists trade-in value, which for that bike is is $5330 in good condition. That puts the range of the bike's value somewhere between $5300 and $7700. That makes Degsy's number look about right.

It's very much a buyer's market right now. Don't over pay and don't be afraid to walk away.

Stay away from a dealer and buy used. The "market" is shit right now and there is no way any bike is worth over retail at this time of year.
