I bought a bike off Ebay in March. It was a great deal.
But then, after that was stolen, I bought a bike from a private seller in July. It was an even better deal.
:dunno: It's a market like any other. Got its ups and downs.
If you want the best for your money, buy whatever's least "in vogue" at the time. When I was buying, it was the zx6r. Now, I'd have to say it's the GSXR600. As far as the big four supersport 6s, anyway.
The best part about it was that the guy I got my SV from was the most Type-A anal retentive dude ever, so never questioned that he took care of it. When he wasn't ironing his underwear he was admiring his SV in his showroom-garage.Quote:

He's like "Yeah, I got this bike as a starter because I wanted a Road Star Warrior but never rode before. So after a year I got the Warrior and now I don't have time to ride this. So how did you manage to get the winning bid on this auction in the last 3 seconds anyhow?"
Plan B was a kid in Fall River with a mint 1200 mile 919 who wanted $5400 cash to end the auction. It was about $1k beyond my budget and the 919 would be way too much bike anyhow...but always look at ebay auctions that are relists...sometimes they are sick & tired and just want cash in hand to end the auction.
As far as a bike to get, I'd suggest an SVS but from the sounds of the kid's reasoning he's all about a bright and loud 600SS. Good luck & don't forget to refer him to an MSF class!
OK its apparent that its time for me to leave work soon if I have type to type a book here....

i think he'd go for a late 90's, early 00 cbr, gixxer or somethin like that... as much as he might be very - how should i put it - "image conscious" he's actually got a sensible head on his shoulders & i really do'nt see him killin himself by doin 100mph down 93 or anything. he kinda reminds me of me when started riding in terms of sensibility... but we all know how fast that flys out the window once you twist the wrist & wind that engine out :D
