I have a friend who is interested in purchasing a street bike (Shadow 600?), in MA, that has been deemed "totaled" from an accident. The damage to the bike is not severe, and the seller still has the original MA Title in his name.
I was asked what it would take to obtain a "Salvage" title for this bike, if, indeed, that is the route to take with this machine.
The current owner was in an accident with this bike, and I presume that he purchased it back from the insurance company.
Can anybody here shed some light on the procedure for getting this bike back on the road?
Thanks!
If you search on here you can find people who have done it. Basicly there should be a list of parts the insurance company said are damaged and they have to all be replaced even if they are still useable.
to also add the mass state police are extremely strict on this. and the replacement parts must come from a reputable dealership buying off ebay even if there a "ebay buisness" doesn't usually work.

You need to save all your receipts and present them at the inspection, right?
Everything ive ever heard is that it's not worth it in ma.... I believe it's much easier in some of our neighboring states?
Wow. Thank You all very much. I had no idea it would be this involved. I will advise my friend of all of the information posted here - and to steer clear!
