Definitely silver. There's no gold on the thing to match it to.

super fun machine, the 2-speed tranny is real smooth. we're going to throw a PW BB kit on it as well ... i almost sold it not running this spring, glad my kid knocked some sense into me. rare classic.

not yet remember the old skool Honda schemes with white/red/blue and gold wheels/accents? been mulling that over ... but you're right, silver if the wheels stay black.

Oh if you go white/red/blue with some gold hoops I'm in. That said....I bet black valve stems would look better on the gold hoops than gold stems

hear that ... the gold are kinda large so figured it would hide them ... here is the scheme, more blue than i would do but so sexxxy with red frame. my CR125R had gold hoops, always loved that look.

There is really nothing better than white/red/blue Honda's with gold wheels. Actually, I'd make a case that no matter what motorcycle, it'll look better with gold wheels.

I have a 1978 Honda XL100 that was given to me last year I'm planning on doing a full restoration on. You know it's going to be white/red/blue rolling on gold.

Re: New project - 1980 Yamaha Champ

forgot to take pics of inner hub but we got that all cleaned up, fresh speedo gear installed and speedo working again.

the cable itself is still dry so i had to be careful on the test ride, that's how i blew up the last one but didn't realize.

brakes were a fail, shoes are too thick, i'll need to mod to get them to fit inside the hub.

also got the front rim valve stem in and tire mounted up, looks rad! that's a 110/80 up front, cannot wait to see the 130/70 on the rear. gonna look gangstah, hey

right? love it. stoked the fender still fits well, was worried we'd have to lose it. pretty sure the rear won't fit but we have plans for that.

the tubeless conversion was cake, no spokes so super easy. i was fearing getting a tube in there, wow those wheels are tiny. stiffer ride for sure though.

ordered up a new headlight, moving to the rear wheel and exhaust mods while we wait on that.

Re: New project - 1980 Yamaha Champ

went through the wiring up front

test fitting new matte black bucket and projector headlight

shock for an extended swinger came in ... on the fence

got the rear wheel painted and valve stem sealed

and spooned the 130 on ... tight khakis

Re: New project - 1980 Yamaha Champ

more progress on The Stray .. .

chopped the front fender to mimic more modern road-going motorbikes, but i'm not into it. crap. rare shit.

but cleaned up cracks/chips with epoxy and fiberglass backing on front edge and mount points (sand/paint later)

matched shape to bobbed rear fender

and repurposed mud flap to hang off faring to shield head from debris/water spray

nabbed an MLM Next Level pipe for a QT50, fatter tubing than stock

which didn't fit for shit. had to grind mounts off the case, hammer the crap out of the inner side of pipe and bend the mount tab to fit

but it sounds rad and works great!

    shock work next

    ---

forgot to add: shock idea failed, wrong length again, so i'll have to try another of the same type and modify the clevis mount.

Other then ripping around my neighborhood, I haven’t ridden the YZ since we went to Oct Mtn last year.
It’s been all about the boat and the new Streetfighter this season.

You guys riding this weekend? I’ve been thinking about dusting the dirty girl off this week.
