    Project Phoenix: 13yr old resurrection

Some of you may recall the '99 Sprint ST 955i I bought for Erin and I 2 years ago.

I paid $700 for it with a slight knock in the motor and to say the least it was a bit rough around the edges.

One panel was completely destroyed and several others had large cracks in them or even missing pieces.

A complete engine rebuild for <$50 in parts

some PlasteX, a little elbow grease and an absolutely top-notch paint job from JR (~KillaKawi!) and the transformation is finally complete. The pictures do not even come close to doing the color justice. I cant stress enough how freaking awesome JR is. Simply amazing.

Oh and lets not forget the color matched levers from that awesome guy at 434Racer Performance Parts

Not bad for an old girl...

That looks amazing! I love the color.

Good job fixing that thing up. May it provide plenty of thrills for for years to come!

Awesome. Those Sprint 955i's are great bikes, and the paint job looks terrific.

That came out really nice. Love the color.

What was wrong with the motor and how did you get the parts to rebuild it for <$50

Ebay =). The engine noise turned out to be a sloppy wrist pin so I picked up a piston, pin, and connrod for $20. A few gaskets and the rest sealant and it was good to go.

Yeah I just had my first long term ride on it and man what a blast. More than agile enough for some twisties but super comfortable for 2-up long haul riding. 46mpg to boot and I call that a win =)

Is that the paint code for a 2006 GTO in "Brazen Orange"? Looks very much the same, and looks GREAT!

You should bring that baby over to the Bennington Triumph Bash this weekend. It would be a big hit.

Re: Project Phoenix: 13yr old resurrection

So you purchased it for $700, have $50 into the motor and a good amount of quality DIY time. All in all(just so I can feel worse about not having a bike at the moment) what would you say you have into it at this time if you don't mind me asking? I love these "I bought it for nothing and now have something awesome for short change" stories
