Possible purchase: 76 Honda CB200 price suggestions

So i have a 76 cb200 in my possession that I got running for a friend, now she wants to put it up for sale. I get first dibs on buying it, but I don't know much about buying vintage bikes. Bike is in good shape, 1200 miles, runs, all original anrd has a title. Does need new carbs (brass floats in original carbs cracked after years of sitting so they just fill with gas and don't float causing the carbs to piss gas) and new tires would be a good idea.

Technically I know its not the most desirable bike, but its a great ride for me to make my 10 mile commute to and from work through twenty stop lights. Figure I can cafe it and have a fun little commuter. Thoughts on a starting price?

I usually set a search on eBay and see what comes up and what they sell for. I've seen them for sale for $350 to $1,500, depending on condition, and most seem to sell for closer to $500 than $1,000.

    CB200 feature.

$2 per cc, tops. Especially if it needs carb work.

I've seen some good running CB200s with nice original paint going for around $1000-$1200. Title is a big plus.

Can you just rebuild the carbs with new internal parts?

My CB77 needed tires (and tubes and rim bands), then I replaced the wheel bearings while I had the wheels off, and the steering bearings were notched, so I installed AllBalls rollers, and replaced the fork seals while I had the forks off. And chain and sprockets. And battery. And, and, and, ... .

    Great little bikes, though.

Does it have points? Or an electronic ignition?

1200 miles?! I bought mine with 13,000 miles for $700 and didn't regret a cent. I do regret selling it.

Those little bikes arent worth much sadly. If it was a 400 or something larger it could get decent money. I buy and sell those older bikes like crazy and you would be hard pressed to get a grand for it in running and presentable shape regardless of miles.
With it needing new carbs and tires id consider 4 or $500 for it. Its probably gonna need a host of other things once its running. For sure the brake pads are probably shot or delaminated, chain is probably junk and with that low of miles the seals in the engine are probably gonna leak. Id probably add new intake manifold boots to the list when you do the carbs too. They dry rot pretty easily.
Another thing to remember if you havent ridden those little bikes before is it isnt a highway bike. It might see 60mph with the wind on your back and a long, long stretch of clear pavement. Its more of an around town bike. Thats probably what kills the value in those old little bikes more than anything else.
