    Smart chargers for multiple bikes

Now that I have my own garage (holy shit!) and it's got 5 bikes in it (double holy shit!) and about to have a 6th (zomgtripleholyshit!), I'm looking at ways to keep them all of their batteries from dying since we'll never ride them again now that we're adults and own a home.

    I already have a Battery Tender two-bank...
Wondering if I should stick w/ that brand and try to source their Battery Tender four-bank (think I found one for 190 shipped)
Or get some other brand of four bank charger... like the Noco Genius 2x4
Or just get a bunch of Battery Tender Juniors.

Those of you in similar positions with similar fleets or mini-fleets of bikes, what do you like?

All the bikes have tender leads, I have one tender jr, and just swap it between the bikes.
I’m in and out of the garage pretty regularly - If I see the light is green, I’ll switch it to a different bike.

    That's dumb.

I don't do anything. Then when it's time to fire a particular bike up, it bogs, I kick myself and spend $110 on a battery. Boom. Done.

I have a few battery tender juniors, a couple of their bigger tenders up to 1.5 amp and one larger one that can be used for cars (up to 5 amp) . Most are on tenders but sometimes I swap them out. I think you can get by with just two and swap then around once a week as well

Deltran units seem hard to find lately. Sellers that have them want a lot for them.
Generic knockoffs seem to have mixed ratings.
The multi unit ones are generally pricey.

I have started buying these from northern tool.

So far they are set and forget. Add a cheap power strip for multiples.

6 bikes here and one charger. Every year I consider getting another one but I'm starting to realize I don't need more multiples of things.

My vote is for battery tender. If you look hard enough you can find a 6 battery version.

Re: Smart chargers for multiple bikes

Depending on how easy it is, I either pull the batteries for the winter, or disconnect a lead. During spring to fall, I put them on a battery tender as needed.

Lithium batteries hold their charge a long time so I have been switching over to those. Can go the whole winter without needing a top off.

I don’t understand why the thread didn’t close after this.

Perhaps because I've got no (or minimal) parasitic draw, but the last time I put my race bike on a tender was... well... never and it fires up. The hawk OTH... If I let it sit more than a week, I have to buy a new battery.

Look into pulse battery rechargers. PulseTech held the patent for the technology but that's been expired for years. I revive about 2 dead batteries every year with my PulseTech Xtreme. It paid for itself after 1 year.

I've had the 4 bank battery tender for many many years. It works great. I even had a lead on it that goes to the battery in a generator.
2 bikes, a car, and the generator and never had a problem.

Do yourself a favor and just rotate them with a long cord.

Buy one of the better units like this one https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tende...ef_=ast_sto_dp

Get one of these long cords - https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tende...st_sto_dp&th=1

And rotate them when you think about it. Batteries do not need constant charge. They just need to be topped off a couple times during the winter. I do notice that certain bikes have more parasitic drag on the battery. I leave it on those when I am done topping off the other bikes.

Yup. I just rotate the Tender. Beginning of each month I do the charging rounds for 24-48 hours unless I forget to switch 'em. Harley, Arctic Cat, Raptor at the beginning of the month for a day or two seems to work really good.

Ah the time of year is upon us where my tender which never leaves my garage is missing, and my other charger which I loan to someone comes back missing a cord.
