    Putting grips on

Is there a trick to puting new grips on. I bought some grip glue but I heard hairspray works too. I just put the heated grip pads on the bars and just need to put the new grips on. I am just worried about getting them all the way on. I had to cut the end of them so my bar end mirrors can mount back. Any suggestions? Cant wait to use the heaters.....

Not that this helps now but its easier when its warm out.

key is to use brute strength and work fast.
I have always used the grip adhesive but sometimes if they
are really tight I skip that and just use water.
Or apply it later by peeling the grip back.

Heard about hair spray but never done it.
Does start slick then get sticky ?

    Or....

    Gas.

Splash a little in the grip. Slip it on. Done.

I guess all that other fancy stuff works too.

7 bikes, all new grips, none of them slip/move/twist. Make sure the bar is clean.

just use an air hose if you have it, that way when u take them off you dont need to deal with any glue or crap, and with hair spray when it dries out after a long time they can slip. Air is what I found to be best.

Got it using the dishsoap method. Worked like a champ. I used grip glue and safety wire. Hopefully they dont slip. Check it out:

Best that I have found to work,

    WD-40 to get them off,
Aqua Net to hold on the new ones, works like a charm!

Those are so you can't see how black the fluids are.

I've always used compressed air to put them on.

You can apply the new ones with WD-40, and when it dries they'll be stuck on.

I have found that hiar spray dries quicker and is stickier.

If you look at my pics there are 2 silver wires around them. You safety wire them and cut them close to the grip and fold over the cut so it cant catch anything.

Most people already have WD in the garage, plus I can never find my Aqua Net.

I did that with the grip-glue stuff.

it worked, but what a fucking mess!
I didnt find it messy, a few thin lines of it and then wipe the excess off near the inside when you get within an inch of the end. I thought it was nice and neat.

Nice grips, I have the exact same kind. I had a friend put them on for me and he used a quick setting glue that came out of a small plastic bottle with a very tapered nozzle. A few light strokes of glue-- the grips go on without a hassle, no slipping.

Right, but do the safety wires attach the grips to anything? It seems to me that they could still slip off under stress... With enough force I'm sure you could stiff get them off even if they are wired on...
