    Question for MSF instructors...

Would it be possible to set up a beginner rider course for my staff?

I would like to set up a deal where we could all go as a team on couple/few Mondays.

What would be the minimum number of people you would need to make it worth your while? Could we get a price break? Would it still have the benefits of getting you license?

Anyway, just thinking out loud. There are alot of people on my staff who have expressed interest in riding, and It'd be cool to do something nice for them, and be kind of a team building thing...

    Thanks for your time,

    Alex

Also, if MA is like RI, typically the MSF only gives you your permit. You hold that for x amount of time and get your licence.

According to that you have to have your permit first... There is just no time limit you must have it for.

in mass the permit test is the dumb 20 question test on a computer at the DMV, as long as you have your permit when u complete the MSF course and pass the test u get your license.

Yup, in RI i only recieved a permit through MSF, had to have it for 3 months i think? Then bring it to the DMV for new license.

Quick comment on this, as I almost got trapped. Before I took my MSF I went to the registry to take the computerized test. I went in thinking it would be stupidly easy because the website for the particular MSF class operator I signed up with said it was "common sense" stuff. I figured like, red lights, crosswalks, double yellows, no brainer stuff like that.

WRONG. You will get all these BS questions about how much the fines are for street racing, how long the license suspensions are for DUI, etc etc. Stuff that you definitely do not know. You can easily fail this test if you don't study the dumb book the registry has.

    Re: Question for MSF instructors...

The test is quite random. Some people get the tough questions but more often than not they are common sense like what is the best choice for gloves: fingerless, full leather gloves, no gloves etc.

I always tell my customers to read the book because the questions are so Random. You would like to think after you've had your car license for a few years you'ld remember or know all the shit. Chances are you don't. Do yourself the favor and atleast read the book online.

No but i do know how RI works, and i know MA is like RI in terms of insurance and other things so i figured, it may be the same. You are an MSF instructor, do u know how the MA licensing works without going to a website and figuring it out?

I know that was my point. I'm a resident of RI not MA, excuse my fuckup by assuming you needed to hold your permit for more than 30 seconds to get your license.

fuck you for being wrong, you fucker!!!

I did not know it's like that in RI. I teach msf to lots of RI folks because of the wait in RI they come to southern mass to do the BRC (the certificate transfers) and they have never mentioned it.

    Re: Question for MSF instructors...

Yup you must hold your permit for 30 days before you get your license. I waited a year for mine but that's neither here nor there. And seeing how RI and MA share a lot in common in reguards to motor vehicles i figured this would be the same. Meh guess not.

    Re: Question for MSF instructors...

Hmm... here goes what I did this summer here in MA

I got the permit through the DMV. They asked me if I was going to take a course. In that case I pay ahead this endorsement fee.

After the MSF course, they also took a copy of this endorsement so they would send in my passing grade. I got my license in the mail about 2 weeks after the course. All of this was definitely done before 30 days.. ie I got my permit the week before the actual MSF course.

Of all my friends (4) we got a break... and our tests were all the hard ones as mentioned. about 1 out of 20 of the questions were actually motorcycle related. A TON of them were all about fines etc that are in one measly chart in the motorcycle handbook. *but* if you look at the regular driver's permit test it's a good 10 pages!

Anyways.. I'm glad I still did pretty well
