    Holy pickup

A few weeks ago on 95 was travelling at night, and found myself behind a Dodge Ram pickup. It was one of those ones with the 'Dayona' spoiler on the back. I recall thinking "boy how stupid is that, a giant 4x4 with a deck spoiler", etc.

At any rate I end up in a typical CF of cars with open road ahead, so I wick it up to space myself between the mess and the next one a mile up the road. I rode out 5th gear hard and shift into 6th, only to see these giant headlights bearing down on me. As the truck comes tearing by I hear this giant 'WOOSH' as if it had either a turbo or a centrifigual blower on it. When I say the sound was like a jet it was, I was going fast with ear plugs and the thing was just nuts. He ends up pulling up next to me, and not sure what kind of person we are dealing with i.e. road rage, doesn't know how to drive, etc. I simply give him the thumbs up hoping that he leaves me be.

Now the SV is not exactly a rocket but the idea that a giant 4x4 could pull on me that hard, i.e. like a 1000, was amazing. The other uncomfortable thing was the idea that this guy could have been a crazy and literally chased me down. A weird experience!

My friend just got the Jeep SRT-8 with the 6.1L Hemi and 425HP. I must say that as far as a SUV goes, it's pretty damn fast. At one point we were going 100MPH on the highway and he stomps on the accelerator. It threw us back in the seat and kept us there.

My new Titan CC will go like a bat outta hell, too. 5.6l V8 and it will set you back at 80mph. Last tank I averaged 17.4mpg Some of the newer vehicles, trucks included, will just rip .

Turbocharger with the wastegate venting to the atmosphere maybe?

Though that sound, whilst being "whoosh-like", is actually incredibly obnoxious.

The other day while having the oil changed in my truck, I had the honor of seeing a Dodge Charger SRT 10 Bumble Bee show up. It is number 522 out of a 1000. That thing sounded sweet!

It was silver with the black stripe business on the tail.

We are talking a giant truck going 120+ and pulling like an M3 at that speed.

The other thing is that it was big enough to cause turbulence that felt like near headshake.

At first I thought it was a diesel truck, but I would say no way as it had the superbee dress-up, but it did sound very close to a gigantic turbo diesel, i.e. you are hearing induction vs. exhaust noise.

It may have been an SRT-10..

Or maybe you ran into the guy with the diesel RAM that runs low 11s/high-10s up at Epping?

I think you'd recognize him though.. he had smoke stacks like a big rig!

Banks has twinl turbos for diesel and gas

Big V8 and turbos makes like 1200 HP

Back in the day there was a turbo ford 460 VAN that would burn 10" rubber at 80

I am sure he was just feeling his oats

If it was an SRT-10 it wouldn't have had the same height spoiler from what I saw on Dodge.com

Years ago I ran my 5.0 mustang at Epping on Wed night and they had me staged with this gigantic Kenworth tractor that had flames out the stacks and would smoke all 8 wheels

    She moves out ok.
I don't have a superchip in it though, thing is fast enough without it. But it is the superchip that will override the factory speed limiter and boost up the hp pretty well. I want to get one so I can change the settings to run on 87 octane instead of the 89.

Friend of mine has the Dodge Cummins High Output diesel that has been chipped. We were riding one day and a 'Vette passes us ... he says watch this and floors it.

My back was STUCK to the seat and we were on that 'Vettes ass doing a buck thirty and then some.

    It's a dodge, he'll need a new one at 100k anyways

It must have had something done to it, the factory speed limiters nowadays are set at 98mph.

Why, I don't know but when I put the Westers tune in my truck, I had the speed limiter upped to 120
    2004 GMC 2500HD
8.1L V-8 345hp stock, 450ftlbs (advertised at 390hp and 500 ftlbs of torque with the Westers tune I have in it)

It will pass a lot of vehicles on the road, and even a few gas stations

Oh yeah! This is the favorite tactic of the Mass Staties ...

Someone gets on my ass ... I pull aside and then follow them from a third of a mile away ... They are going to be my "rabbit"!

If you read the fine print on those programers/super chips they state that you need to use 93 octane or higher.

I was thinking of buying one, but the horsepower gain was only 20 HP. Not worth the money for me.
If you read the owners manual for the 5.7 hemi the minimum octane rating is 89. Runs like crap on the 87, but the fuel milage is better with the 89 Bit of a wash.

You got it backwards. HP is everything. Torque is meaningless without RPM (which makes it HP).
