Questions on suit fit / customizing leathers

Hey guys, I'm incredibly psyched for my first track day at Palmer next month and trying to break in a new two-piece before I actually get to the track.

After a lot of thought I picked up a Joe Rocket Blaster X Two-Piece.

    I'm 5' 10" 130lbs. so it was tough choosing a size but went with a 38.

Everything fits (snugly) except the thigh/crotch area could stand to be a few inches longer. When I plant my feet (sitting on the bike), the knee pads ride up a lot and when I lift my feet up again it's pretty awkward. Once I'm in riding position and get adjusted, it's snug but fits good and covers my knees in the right places (I think).

Don't think I could get away with a size 40+ it might fix the length issue but then the entire suit will be loose..

    Anyway a couple questions:

    1. Is it normal for the knee pads to move around when extending your legs vs. riding position? How do you deal with this?

    2. Do your knee pads usually sit between the inside of the knee and the tank and if so by how much? It's pretty awkward getting used to that feeling.. I'm used to wearing jeans and being very intimate with the gas tank lol, now these pads are going to take some getting used to.

    3. Where/who does excellent customization of suits, and do you think adding some length to the thighs is possible and not insanely expensive?

    Thanks!
    Gabe

My suit is tight in the crotch when standing, when on the bike, perfect. No, your knee pads should not move. It should be tight fit in case you go down, you dont want it moving all around on you....

It's more like the crotch pulls the pant legs up when I leg down, taking the knee pads with it.

It's starting to break in a bit though, doubt it will ever be a perfect fit but hopefully enough for track days without feeling awkward all day.

Sounds like you should be in a 1 piece Euro fit size 50.

American sizing means the brand tends to run loose. Euro is a slimmer fit. I am 5'10 and 155 and use a 52.

Makes so much sense, the thought had crossed my mind. US sizing is always huge, most of my good fitting jeans are European.

So you think a EU 50 would have more length over a US 38 with similar fit?

For a cheap two-piece I'm pretty happy, but if things go well I'll want something really well-fitted for track-only use..

That's mighty fine of you to offer, how much would that run? I'd love to try another suit, see if it cures my woes..

I think it would cost about $30 to ship I'm guessing?
