    new to me race bike.

so im getting into racing/track days and iv been looking good a good bike to start with. i was on craigslist and came across a former penguin ex500. so i emailed the seller about it at the beginning of last week and he told me all about it. so for $800 i figured why the hell not. so now i gotta get the cash. i had a glock .45 laying around that i never use so i figured i would sell that. on Wednesday rolls around and my buddy says he has someone who wants to trade my glock for his S&W 686 .357. i was hesitant because i was not looking for trades just cash. so 10 mins after i sent my buddy that text i get an email from the guy with the ex500. he asked if i was still interested. i told him i was and just trying to come up with the cash. but i asked him if he would be interested in trading the bike for a glock or the .357. well he was interested in the .357. so i texted my buddy back to tell his buddy that ill trade my glock for his .357. so friday i went and picked up the ex500. so for the price of a glock i was able to get a ex500. i think i did well this week.

I recognize that bike, spent my first year racing against it.

Hey, not for nothing, he never turned a wheel an a track and wants to race.... he got a small "well used" bike to start, relatively responsible in my book. He could have gotten an r1 or s1000 to start on lol

When I started racing on 91 I brought a 82 gpz550 out of mothballs to start on. The looks and crap I got was endless until I was kicking butt on it and asked to buy a new bike. Because they where sick of the old crap beating tham... lead to 26 and counting years of club racing. Good luck have fun

The proper way to get into racing is to really just get out and do it safely. I typically enjoy the "riding a slow bike fast" approach, but I realize it's not how we all do it.

Poopoo, I wish you the very best out there. The memories will last a lifetime.

In this case, the 500 has a native class (Supersport 500) and a bump class (ULGP) ready to go for it.

I ran my SV in the Dash at the Classic. It was worth it for the experience.
