    Race Glass

    Hey Guys and Gals,

I finally got around to looking over my bike since my crash at the Penguin School and I'm going to need more parts than I originally thought.

Anyhow, my question is: Have any of you peeps ever heard of Pit-Teck Race fairings/Glass.
I spotted them on Ebay and the price is definately right. They want $375 for the complete race fairing set. Upper cowl, lower cowl, fender and tail section.
Every other place I looked at wants $575 and up.

I'm not looking for the best quality seeing that I will eventually go down again in the future. I just want something that is going to button up fairly well. If I have to trim a little here and there that's no big deal.

    Here's the link

    Pit Teck

when it comes to race glass you get what you pay for. Top of the line is the best, mid grade is junk, and cheap stuff is junk.

I paid over $700 with a racers discount from hotbodies, and it was still junk to mount up.

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

So, unless I am willing to pay top dollar I am going to get Junk?

I didn't realize that HotBodies was that bad. I know the old adage "you get what you pay for" is usually true but I'm not ready to fork over $700 + on something that more than likely will drag across the asphalt again.

Well, if HotBodies really is that bad I might as well spend the $375 and get the Pit-Teck set up.

I'll probably just get the dremel tool and a 6 pack of Michelob Lights ready.

At the beginning of last year, we put a set of Hotbodies on my teamates 03 SV650. Worst fitting shit I have ever seen. Took forever to mount and the upper and lower wouldnt even fit together OFF the bike, let alone on it.
Well, he ordered another set for this year because he had contingency to use up. We were expecting another nightmare but, to our surprise, the new stuff was much improved and went right on, easily. It takes them a while to get their molds sorted out.
What bike are you putting the stuff on?

    Sharkskinz are decent

...And spend the extra money on fairings. Decent fairings will survive some good crashes, cheap fairings will not.
You could spend alot more in the long run if you had a couple easy crashes and had cheap fairings.

It will be going on an '04 Yamaha R1.

I know, I know. The bike will be overkill for the track but it's what I have.

Are uyou racing as a novice? Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe there is only one NV race per weekend that you will be able to run that bike in.

Actually, now that I have you on here I've been meaning to contact you regarding some suspension work.
I'd like to have my rear shock "freshened up" and was curious as to what you could do with it and how much it would cost?

If you don't want to talk prices on the message board just shoot me a PM.

    Nope, I'm not racing yet.

I would like to in the future but I am far from being that good.

I've used this bike on the street for all of last year and most of this year but the more I ride the more I realize that I need to get something else for street riding. Something more or less along the lines of an FJR 1300, Victory Vegas or Yamaha Warrior.

I find myself pushing it too hard on the street and with a 5 year old girl at home it's just not worth taking the chance.
As most of you know going down on the steet is much more risky than going down on the track.

Is that a stock shock or aftermarket?
