    Storing bikes in the city

Thinking of moving to Somerville but not sure what to do with the bikes. I can leave them at my parents house with my trailer as one option, but then taking the street bike out becomes a whole process. Just wondering what other people do around there?

    leave it at home...

I live in long beach...sucks sorta like slumberville:
-comprehensive insurance, garage, motion sensor alarm, security camera, (if you really want, locked cover & chained through rear wheel to something solid)
-if no garage, comprehensive insurance, off street/out of sight, locked cover w' alarm (or shed...or moto tent equivalent), chain lock through rear wheel to something solid, security camera
-if on street, same as #2...a camera from your window likely won't catch anyone...consider getting a klr or ninja 250 w' no plastics

I posted a poll on Stromtrooper and out of 275 responses there was oneattempted theft. Turns out the V-Strom is too tall and long to fit into most vans without removing the windshield and mirrors. So I parked it on the sidewalk in front of my house in Southie, for five years.

Always chained the SV and kept the 250's put away. Choose an apartment carefully!

I made sure I got a place with a garage, it just took a while and had to make a few other sacrifices.

Places with garages exist, and are worth the extra coin. If you can find a spot like this nearby SECURED MOTORCYCLE STORAGE it's probably worth it.

I'd stay away from shared garages (apartment complex style). You get a false sense of security, and there are always creatures wandering around in those.
