You can't use all the power if you don't HAVE all the power.

    Re: Race prep.

Since The Master ("TTD") is going to stupidvise and instruct while you drill, there's really nothing else for any of us to say on that topic.

Since you didn't ask and this is the internet, I'll put my two cents in on the other topic - going racing before having ever turned a wheel on a track. It most certainly can be done. Tony ("TTD") and countless other old codgers did it in the days before trackdays existed. Many less-than-doctors (Smutty and Pittenger) did it during the Modern Age. As GinjaNinja said (crap, I never thought I'd agree with him), it most definitely can be done successfully. You just may be on a somewhat steeper learning curve than other New Racers who are seasoned trackday riders.

    1. Be predictable! Don't swoop, don't make sudden movements.
    2. Ride your own ride. Just because that black CBR just passed you at Mach 6, doesn't mean you can do Mach 6 through that corner...yet.

    Re: Race prep.

I'm sitting here down the Cape, a beautiful home by the water. I'm having morning coffee relaxing and reading through this.

What I have to offer about this topic is that if you're really going to RACE see this ^. That will never ever be again. Not saying that you can't be in a position like this but if you are you will never be as happy. Anything but having massive anxiety, nearly puking, bruised, tired, exhausted, massively hungover, still drunk, and dying to get out for practice will be the only happiness you will find. Do it absolutely DO IT BUT DO IT RIGHT.

I like Tony started out without a track day, there were none. You don't need them but I absolutely highly recommend it. Not just for track time but to understand what will go into a race day. There is much more involved in just getting on track. ASK AS MANY Questions You Can THINK OF AND THEN ASK MORE and talk to everyone. No one will have all the right answers.
