    Racing suit fitment...

So, I'd like to do one of these Tony's track days at some point, but I need to get a suit, or something to that effect. Anyway, I'm a tall, skinny, lanky, S.O.B. I'm worried I won't be able to fit into one comfortably. I'm 6',2", ~32" waist, weigh ~170#.
    Size suggestions?

Is there somewhere I can can check out that has suits in stock you can try on?

    Thanks for any suggestions,

    Alex

I'm going to guess Vanson Leathers in Fall River, MA is your best bet. Its the only place I've been with a slew of suits available for viewing. Never the less, they can make just about anything.

hmm... Tall & thin? If you have no choice but to go w/ an off the rack suit, look at euro suits like dainese, spidi etc. They're a little more taylored for thin guys. I bet a 52 or maybe a 54 would fit alright. Look around & see if any dealers near you stock them. For reference, I'm 5'10, 165 & a Dainese 52 fits me damn near perfect, but a guy your height could fit in it too if your torso is the same length as mine as it's ALMOST too long in the legs and arms.

I would try something off the rack at vansons or cyclegear or whatever store is in your area. If they fit well, you win. If not I would highly recommend tiltcustoms.com. I am not one of the fortunate few that can buy off the rack, this was a very good alternative for me.

    +1

A lot of their stuff at the open house are suits returned becasue the people did not like the fit = odd sizes/colors. $1,200-2,400 suits for 750; that is where I found mine, paid 750 and they threw in a pair of knee pucks and a lady's jacket (for my wife).

ha. wish i was selling mine, sounds like you could be my twin and vanson has already built me a set. vanson may not be the best bet for you if you are looking off the rack, it didn't work out for me. in reality, their plain custom leathers aren't that unreasonably priced and they'll last forever, something to consider.

If you come to one of the races or track days, you could also check with Miles at the Street & comp. trailer. He usually has a bunch of suits. Just try them on until you find your size.
