    Radiator repair

My TLS was crashed at some point, and the radiator is slightly tweaked and indented on one side, although it does not leak at all.

My question is can a radiator be straightened? I know it's more of an aesthetic thing at this point, but I already need to get a new bottom mount welded on because the old one broke, and I'm wondering if I should just have it straightened while it's in for repair, if possible.

    Here's what it looks like:

    Yes they can be straightened.
I have used Mylers (they advertise in the bike mags) and they do a great job. Reasonable price and fast turn around.

I would be afraid of straightening it, then it starts leaking...

At Mylers I know they pressure test after straightening for this exact reason.

And if it leaks after do they replace it? That radiator looks a whole lot better now than it would after they fixed a pinhole buried in the cooling fins. I'd leave it myself, keep my eye on ebay.

I just got an estimate from Mylers, and they said about $75-125 for straightening and a new fabbed bracket.

At that price I am almost better off either 1. leaving the radiator slightly bent and get a new bracket mounted locally or 2. buying an SV650 radiator and get the lower bracket moved.

A new TLS rad is out of the question since they seem to run an outrageous $400-600.

    Decisions, decisions...

Check to see if the TLR radiator fits, I think it does. Plenty of them on TLplanet and tlzone when guys part out their TL's.

That is what they do, repair radiators. If it leaks they will repair it.
Their work is very good, repairs are very neat and they have tools to fix the cooling fins if they are bent.
