Haven't really needed them until recently. My dad has a couple 8 foot long rough cut 2x6's with ramp ends that I usually use, but they are far north now. I wanna pick me up a folding ramp, but all of the reasonably priced ones I've seen seem to be a little too flimsy for my beast of a motorcycle(the Rex is about 550 wet).

    What bike?

    1993 Kawasaki KLR650

Racing is too expensive for me right now. This will also get ridden all week, all weekend and every weekend, not once or twice a month. I got it for a song and just couldn't pass up the deal. My dad is also gunna pick up a dualie so we can go riding together (good thing too, not like I'm gunna wait for his sorry ass riding a new Road King, yuck). Also, if I wanna ride dirt with a friend who doesn't have a bike now, I got two dirtworthy good running bikes! Time to finally SHOW my friends who don't ride what they are missing (off-road anyways).

And I'm bringin it down to the Gap since the roads down there would be great for a dual-sport.

You can use my big ramp if you want clayton. Also I have some stuff for your Tacoma if you want to trade for beer. I got the iridium +4 spark plugs and a fuel filter. I also have some slotted rotors I will give you a deal on. Let me know.

You're going to PAINT OVER the Ken & Barbie stuff? Fuck that! It's a classic!

    re: height
You only need to touch ground with one foot -- it's a dirtbike! Well, sort of.

BTW, the Kawi tail pack works very well and can expand to hold a lot of stuff.

Oh yeah, the OE-spec Dunlops are decent tires and good for about 3,000 miles. They've gotten me through some fairly nasty stuff, and grip well enough on blacktop to drag the pegs. They'll also only set you back about $80/pair.

And you should do a front end alignment, i.e., loosen the triple clamps & axle to make sure all is straight. It doesn't take much binding to cause those spindly legs to act sticky.

Noice. I had a KLR at one point (years ago).
ChR1s is right about the "alignment." It gets upset fairly easily. Especially when you stuff it into some trees... or some boulders... or a 2-foot invisible hole in a stream bed... not that I ever did any of that

I'd invest in an IMS shifter if it doesn't already have one. The stock P.O.S. tends to break (usually at the worst possible time). I (and many others) have fond memories of a nice 30 mile ride home stuck in 2nd.

I eventually sold the KLR to a guy via Ebay. I picked him up at Logan with the bike in the truck and he hopped on and rode it back to Minnesota (sight unseen). They're pretty damn reliable bikes.

Oh yeah... The shifter! I'd pre-purchased extra levers, so no big deal at the time. But, I now have a Moose shift lever as a spare.
