How many new members have read this??

In light of some group ride "incidents", just wanted to know how many newer members have actually read the sticky thread on the rules of an NESR group ride? When I set up a ride, I normally ask if the ride is the first for some newer riders, or one of their first.

PLEASE, for the safety of everyone on a ride, whether a new rider, or a seasoned rider, read through these. They really make sense.

Group Ride Rules!!!! READ THIS IF YOU PLAN TO RIDE WITH US!

Not much. A couple of incidents of people being dropped from rides and no one looks back to see if they crashed or not.

It just seems that stuff like hand and foot signals and looking out for others on the ride is getting overlooked.

That's why I mentioned that it should be the responsibility of the ride organizer to spell out the rules for that particular ride. Some groups do things differently.

I know that when you get comfortable riding with certain people that you get used to how they do things, but until you do, you need to look out for them.

No one likes to see others have incidents or accidents.

And I guess I've been excluded lately, since I have been a whiny bastard. I just like to ride and have fun and make sure everyone is having the same fun, while keeping things relatively safe.

I only got one invitation to a super secret ride. I thought I was a responsible rider. Apparently not in some eyes.

Re: How many new members have read this??

well i have a list of some riders that i will not ride with. tried a few group rides & bailed when some of these members were interested in joining. Any rides that I plan will now be through PMs, texts, or phone calls. It sucks to do things this way, but I'm not open to riding with anyone when my safety is a concern. reading a thread before the ride doesnt necessarily improve their group riding abilities.

Well thats the thing. I have about 5 or 6 people Ill ride with. Luckily they all live close to me. There are some that I try not to ride with only because the bitch too much. I dont mind having someone come along for the first time but I usually have a chat with them first just so they know what to expect.

...when I first joined NESR the the thread referenced was different...man did I get hammered.

I suspect I'm not included in SOME of the super secret rides BECAUSE of my rep a pro saftey/anti stunt rider...and that some rides are squidly in nature or turn public roads into personel race tracks...and I appreciate not being invited to those.

The rest of the one's I'm not invited to are probably because I'm an asshole...!

Re: How many new members have read this??

A rider that doesn't do the correct things in a group ride is not going to learn by people not letting them know what they do wrong. You cant just bail from a ride if they decide to go on it also and expect them to learn. Do your part in helping them with what they dont understand.

Then if they cant follow the rules of the ride ask them to leave.

Normally I ride with my little group, Lately I have been going on some other rides with people I have never riden with. The majority have been very good, safe, cool people to ride with. There has been a few incidents where people couldnt stay in the staggered formation when riding or didnt go into single file on the turns or didnt let faster paced riders go ahead of them.

Best thing to do is have a talk with everyone before the ride heads out and make sure everyone is on the same page.

TJ call me shelfish, but it's not worth it to me if i end up with a wrecked bike and/or hospital visit while gaining someone's skill for group riding. if someone is dangerous in group rides, then let them ride with other dangerous riders

I didnt say anything about dangerous riders...just inexperienced. Ones that just don't know all the little unspoken rules of group rides.

I'm a new guy (here) and I've read it. Good info, the same guidelines they have on SoCal SVriders and other San Diego area forums. Keeps everyone happy and good to point out to people new to "group" riding. Now I just have to go to one of the group rides here (other than the New England Super Hawk gang)

I am new to the group. I have been on a couple rides that TJ was on - one tham Kham led. I think that I was respectful and followed the rules (yes I have read them). But feel free to let me know if I have not. I certainly do not want to be excluded - the whole reason I joined the site is to get some people to ride with. That is what I do - I ride. I sincerely hope I have not pissed anyone off - I dont think I have but like I said let me know.

honestly that post you said about getting cuffed for doing wheelies got the 1st impression that i probably wouldnt want to ride with you. not saying i wouldnt invite you on a ride, but just be careful how you introduce yourself while looking for new riders.

Fair enough. Like I said in my initial post I used to ride like that. I respect the group rides and I would not put anyone into a situation where they were getting in trouble for my actions.
