    rebuild mastercylinder or upgrade?

Ok so i just completely rebuilt my front calipers and put the galfer ss lines on and come to realize that the squics I had been feeling all this time wasn't the lines bulging. My master cylinder needs a rebuild lol. So parts from the dealer or online are about the same 45 bucks. At this point though should I just shop around fleabay or the zx forums and try to find a radial pump for like 75? Or just get the rebuild parts and be done with it? Also I know that the one I have now clears everything. I'm not sure that a radial will, its pretty tight up in there lock to lock.

Brake master's are pretty easy to rebuild especially with oem parts. Provided the bore is in good shape that is.

That being said, an for an extra $30 + not having to deal with c-clips for the time being, is quite tempting.

Yeah I have no problem whatsoever pulling the thing apart. Its more along the lines of the for an extra 30 bucks that makes me pause.

How does the sight glass look on yours? Is it yellowed and/or cracked? If so then you should replace it.

You can get new ones (made out of watch crystal instead of polycarbonate) from these guys.

The WHAT you were feeling? Squeaks?

Lube the lever pivot AND the point where the lever acts on the cylinder. Done.

I think he meant squish OG.

Problem with a used radial is you might end up having to rebuild that too...you never really know the condition until you install it. I'd still do it though..take the gamble and if you find it needs a rebuild, do it.

A bad master cylinder piston seal will squeak and produce a ratchety feeling.

going from a non radial to a radial you might need new lines also. when I switched my 929 to a Brembo I needed to get longer lines because the SS lines I had wouldn't even reach it. Motoheaven/Hel will make you custom lines in any length you want so that's an easy fix but its more money you seem to not want to spend.

Thanks Bret that's a good point. And yes squish not squeak. I'm not that inept Pete... well not in this current situation at least .
Yeah I think I will just rebuild it. I'd like to get it done soon. And I was looking at the radials last night and realized that my end fittings would have to probably be 90 degrees not straight in order to use one.

    is your current master radial?
if not, then i'd look for another one that is.

FYI, 05+ GSX-R masters are radial and usually sell for $50

    Ok you guys are bad for my bank account, but not too bad thankfully. I just paypalled someone last night for a master from an 07 zx6r. Hopefully he ships it soon. Next will be either to make or buy a banjo adapter similar to this one;

Anyone have any idea where I can get something like that?

The GSXR Nissin masters are notoriously inconsistent. Some good, many bad. Did a lotta research when I replaced mine.

Salright Pete I got one from an 08 zx6r its the same one that is on the new 09+ ones that all the critics rave about in bike comparos, so hopefully it wont suck lol. Either way as long as it works I'll be happy. What did you end up going with pete?

An aftermarket Accosatto. Up there with the comparable Brembo unit but w/o the pricetag.
