Do you have a recommendation for a stunt bike purchase? (newbie)

Curious about a recommendation for a stunt bike. Somone at a local shop recommended a Honda f4, doesnt matter year, because of its consistent power through the throttle. Its been years since i rode a 600, but that's what he recommended as a good starting point. Thoughts?

I've heard There's a couple things needed. First, a role cage helps, but most importantly if you're on your back wheel for any amount of time you can starve the engine of oil. The bike needs to be able to draw oil while on the back and front tire. My Ducati M900 gets starved of oil the second I'm up on one wheel.

I'd really like another bike to learn on and any advice on where to start would be greatly appreciated. Something I can beat up on but also get a good handle on control. Toughts?

2 wheeled stunts should only be performed on one of these.
Anything else is one form of lame copy cat or the other.

F4's are very popular among stunters. You'll want one of those huge rear sprockets as well if its a dedicated stunt bike. They also run very low tire pressures.

I'll tell you what I used to stand up my RC like a mother... But that bike was so heavy it was hard to maintain and hit a balance point for any length of time. But wheelies at like 1500rpm was sick.

Anyway I'm all growd up now and no more squid.

The F4 was only produced in 99 and 00. They're pretty cheap to buy if that's your goal.

If you serious about wanting to be a stunna, either go big and get a 'busa, be average and get a gixxah, or be smart and build a motard.

As stunnas go I'm a retard. I ride a goldwing.

Jasnmar, I have no idea what you just said, but I like it. Will purchase the goldwing, stunts in reverse can't be beat.

Have you considered a Segway? I've never heard of any oil starvation issues. Paul Blart swears by them.

    Honest answer:

Look for a Kawi 636. Those are the favored bike of many top stunt riders and the bike many of the top pros cut their teeth on. Also top guys no longer run low tire pressure or super duper big sprockets. Best stunt forum is stuntride.com & many of the XDL pros post there. Sure you'll learn a lot researching there. This board isn't much of a stunt board.

I'm not a stunt rider myself, but spend lots of time in the stunt scene & some of my best friends are at the top of the game.

    Also, watch this 200x's

    a13x,

great advice all around. Over at stuntride.com looks like the 636 is the weapon of choice. Wonder why. As for keeping it off the street, I hear you. In Rhode Island, as with most of NE I imagine, it's tough to find any abandoned non-privately owned spaces. I'd love some space to learn but at this point I have resorted to scouting out a couple of small secluded roads with minimal through traffic. It's still far from ideal, i'd prefer to be off the streets completely but haven't come across anything after looking extensive with google maps and scouting out.

Thanks for the tip on the 636 and street ride.com.

I have a 2000 zx6r, got bored of a dirt bike and traded that for this.

Good parking lots where you can actually get permission are well kept secrets, closest I know of is in Salem NH... little bit of a hike for you.

Re: Do you have a recommendation for a stunt bike purchase? (newbie)

When you do buy a bike you should look at some things too. First a lot of these don't come with a title, that's fine, just run the vin on your phone before you buy it. If there is no VIN walk away no matter what they tell you. Someone went outside one day and found their bike missing... morally wrong to have anything to do with that.

If you buy a pre stunted bike get ready for headaches. If you don't know the bike back to front you will be screwed.

My garage looks like this right now:

Diagnosing someone else's hack work is incredibly annoying and takes a good base of bike knowledge. Turns out the last guy decided his pickup coil didn't need to be replaced properly and just hacked a new one in there (no solder, no tape over the exposed wires)... I tested it and got no continuity.

Which brings me to my other point... have a parts bike, I have another zx6r to pull parts off of (sold the frame and title, kept the rest), so this is a cheap fix but if not 50 bucks here and 50 bucks there adds up.

And expect to be frowned upon by a lot of NESR... stunting is synonymous with stealing, bad reputations, accidents, etc. Don't be someone to cause the problems, but expect to be associated with them.

Why don't you take that monster of yours to a track day? After that bug bites, you can forget about your stunting dreams and start looking for a track bike.

Office parks on the weekend can be ideal. It's not legal but it's much safer than being on active roads.

I missed the part of the OP's post where he asked for not only bike suggestions, but ideas on other hobbies or areas of the sport that OTHER forum members find more interesting.

Its shit like this that make non-members refer to this as a "track" forum. Dude wants suggestions on a stunt bike. Good for him for seeking valid opinions
