Best way to record bike sound?

    I have a gopro hero 3+ black

I would like to record the sound of my bike while riding, but wind noise is so bad

any tips on getting some high quality sound with no wind noise????? Can you do an external mic with a go pro?

My RC with gutted M$ pipes sounds INCREDIBLE, but I just cant record it!

Gopro sells an external mic. adaptor. Lot of motorcycle Vloggers use it, including Chase On Two Wheels, he has a video on YouTube explaining what and how he uses his gear.

But I think no matter what is used, the bike will never sound the same recorded. I'm just thinking of the F1 and drag racing cars on TV using equipment that costs as much as a house.

    I found this cheap guy

Amazon.com : Fantaseal Directional Stereo Mic Kit w/ Extension Cable + Noise Reduction Anti-Interference Ferrite Bead Filter for GoPro Microphone for GoPro Hero 4 /Hero 3+/ Hero3 : Camera & Photo

maybe a custom foam shround on top of the stock one? Wind noise is the biggest issue, and I imagine I need some sort of boom to get the mic out behind the bike?

A coat hanger and a band clamp or tape usually works for a temp boom if you have a wired mic-atleast in my Evo it did.

<shrug> I GoPro recorded a session at njmp on my cbr when the camera was mounted to the top of the rear fender, facing forward. I remember the sound being pretty awesome and don't remember bad wind noise...maybe because my body was blocking the wind?

Tail of the bike. Body blocks the wind. Turn up the speakers and enjoy the howl.

my neighbor across the street was yelling at her 9 year old son, video was taken with a Cannon A1400 cheapo camera (I like it cause it has optical view finder and doesn't eat batteries for lunch) I was surprised at how well it picked up sounds , tire noise from traffic is just as loud as my cherry bomb exhaust, sound from crickets and locust is quite noticeable as well. Normally I don't have that much traffic on my road, hours can pass and not a single vehicle.

I put a small wad of cotton against the mic on the gopro, or helps tremendously with that wind noise. That being said, the gopro mic itself obviously isn't anything to celebrate...
