Please do all and any physical therapy

Those stretching and strengthening exercises will return full function and range

It will be uncomfortable but tendons and ligaments take months to fully heal

This guy is right.. Also look into compression therapy. The stuff works.

Thanks for the professional input, Rich. If you really think she needs PT then I'll tell Jackie to let her Ortho know she got a 2nd opinion and wants to get a script for it

She was evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon. PT is NOT required at this time. Soft tissue damage only. Joint & ligaments are all fine. If her ortho thought she needed PT, I think it kinda goes without saying that she'd do it.

after having almost the exact same injury she doesn't need any PT if its only soft tissue. for some weird reason the bone on the bottom of my knee sticks out a little now even though it was never damaged. but I have full mobility and never have any pain. normal life (walking) will be enough PT.

Yeah, she's healing up pretty well. Still walking with a limp and the knee is still stiff & sore, but it has pretty good range of movement

If you're turned on by a knee bending, you need to have a talk with the missus.

Lets keep this thread clean, please.

Glad to hear you're healing so quickly. Since you are feeling better, it's time for some of those awesome pics.

BTW, I have a brand new pair of red and black Honda Racing perforated leather pants I am willing to sell relatively cheap. The wife did not like them (on her, not on me). I would guess the size is about a ladies 4 (or 6 in real life), maybe 27" waist, 35" hip, and 30" inseam. The knees are velcroed for pucks, but no pucks included.

This is the only picture I'm going to post - because it's from today, and honestly the pictures from the day of or right after are gruesome enough that I'm worried they would be flagged and taken down.

As you can see, some of the steri strips have fallen off, and some are still quite nicely glued to my leg (I've cut off the loose ends). But it basically looks like the skin over my knee was super-glued back together. It's come a LONG way in three weeks.

It was nice to meet you too, Dana! I will be there for round 2, but only on Sunday (the 19th). A friend of mine from law school is getting married on the 18th so I'll be down the cape that day!

Agree with Ortho that no PT would be necessary with an isolated soft tissue injury that does not involve musculature or tendons. As this heals, the pain will subside and the connective tissues with become more flexible allowing your range of motion to improve. You just have to be patient and know how hard you can push the knee without re-injuring the area.

And yes, this is my professional opinion OreoGaborio

I'm very weary of it, though, to be honest. That was scary as hell and I've slept maybe three hours tonight because the Vicodin isn't keeping the pain out for more than 2 hours at a time.
I felt it appropriate to take a look back at this thread from just a little over four months ago after partaking in my first track day yesterday. Hard to believe it - I remember lying in bed that night thinking I had just wasted so much money on a bike that I was never going to ride again.

I got back on it as soon as my knee was functioning somewhat normally again, but getting over it mentally seemed nearly impossible. It was definitely the SUPER SLOW and easy street rides with Eric Baker and Jesse Piegorsch that really helped me get back out there. Can't thank you guys enough for your patience, encouragement, and understanding. Last week I rode to MCN in Lowell with Eric for the first time (on highways and everything!) which had been my goal all summer long.

Yesterday was awesome - I was by far the slowest person in the history of the world on a race track but not one person gave me a hard time about it. From the moment we arrived on Saturday night when Pete mentioned that he brought my bike "just in case..." the support and encouragement was unbelievable. THANK YOU SO MUCH to Tony for letting me get out there, Renee for the back protector and support, Ken for the rider orientation program, John Linn and Cassie for leading and following me around, Steve, Amy, Chuck, Annalisa, Scott, Christian, Savas and everyone else that gave me a smile and a thumbs up as they passed me on the straights (lol) or in the garage. Of course thank you to Pete for making it happen! Bringing my bike, suggesting I do follow the leader, getting the bike track ready (including pink duct tape ), taking me out two up to show me the line, following me around for a couple sessions with the go pro, etc.

if you went faster than about 50mph then you weren't the slowest ever. I knew a guy who had done many track days over the years and even crashed the hell out of a rental at the Schwants School and was still slower than molasses. He still had a blast and always had a smile on his face.

Re: My Recount of Yesterday (LONG)

Like we say at TTD.... "Speed is great but that's not what we're looking for. What impresses us most is smoothness, precision and control."

Based on that valued philosophy, I COULD NOT BE MORE IMPRESSED with your riding... or more PROUD of how far you've come knowing what you've had to go through and overcome to get there. You may have been the most nervous one there in the morning but you were EASILY one of the smoothest, most precise and in control riders out there once we all got on track. I haven't smiled that much out on track at a track day since I first did one myself nine years ago. You listened to people's advice, put it to practice and stuck to the line better than any new track day rider I've ever seen since I started working with people on the track.

Only downside? People in the garages probably got sick of hearing me brag about your riding.

I couldn't possibly be any happier with how incredibly well you did. Awesome job. Love you.

I'd say well done, but that's pretty easy. I see him trying to keep up with new people all the time.

I think you qualify to race ULPB (ultra light pink bike). Make sure you write down everything about the day, you'll have fun looking back! How's your mom feel about THIS?
