South Shore Motorsports going out of business

I heard today from one of my friends who works there that SSMS is going out of business soon. Expect to find closeout prices soon. That is all. You can now return to your boring Wednesday.

I agree. It's the closest dealer to me too. I always bought my oil/filters from them instead of online where I could get it for cheaper. Now I'm going to have to go to Brockton Cycle Center.

thank god. that place sucks. the service guys are nice guys, but that dealership fucked me over a few too many times for me to go back there. i agree it sucks about oil and filters, but that's all i'd ever buy from there again. i might check out any sales they might get if they are closing down though.
i've been to brockton cycles a few times to check it out, but i did most of my sales and service at Bettencourts in W.Bridgewater

+1 on Bettencourts, brockton cycle is pretty flashy with a nice facility but never really liked going there. Bettencourts is a bit better when it comes to service. i never had any work done there but the parts guy helped me out when i was looking for parts

    Betttencourts.
    Old facility. Best overall.
Service Department is in a new lacation next door. Tim Ribbe is the Manager. He used to own All Performance Cycles (APC) in Rockland. He knows his stuff. Great Guy. If you see him tell him I said hi.

SSMS. Ed I believe is the manager of the sales department or maybe higher than that. He is a nice guy. Used to ride TTD back in the day. Although I never bought any bikes from him. I'm a Honda Guy.

Maybe I can be persuaded to look into a GSX-R600 for the right price...

the service guy i delt was is a total dick. he was swearing to my face because he didnt want to put on my new clutch cable, when it broke on me on my way home form there. the service guys are great though, and very friendly. they always ask me about my bike and exhaust when i pull up there, saying how they like it. oh yea, and the chick there is pretty cute too.

Brockton cycles does have a better selection of shields and helmets though. i'm going to bring my new helmet there soon, and see what shield i like better.

Re: South Shore Motorsports going out of business

I bought my bike from SSMS, and I purchased this service package where I get 4 free full tuneups, and free inspection stickers. Since they are going out of business I'm wondering if I can get some kind of credit/refund since I havent taken advantage of it yet.

I just called them to confirm. Yes they are going out of business. Luckily they are selling my prepaid service plan to other dealerships so I'm not losing out on that thank god.

Yea probably. I was hoping for a store credit! I would have bought a PCIII with a full exhaust system. Oh well.

    Oh darn...

There were a few nice folks there, but in general that place wasn't any good. Their service department did poor work and they were just another stealership. Although it's nice for there to be more and more options for us around, they weren't any good anyways...

Here's what I said in the other SSMS thread a while back...
Southshore (as well as cycles 128, parkway, etc etc) are all good for one thing: Go in there, beat the shit out of them on the price of a new bike, walk out with it, and never go back.

If you want to get some warranty work done or recall stuff, go to Riverside. They are nice and know what they are doing. The rest of the stealerships all cater to the squids and they do their business as such.

Hell I bought mine at Southshore because I was able to get the best price from them.... they did a shitty job putting the bike together (I wish I could have just bought it in the crate) and didn't do any of the recall work already needed on the bike up to that point. Then, I went home and checked every god damn fastener on it because I figured there were mistakes. There were. Then I took it to Riverside to get the free new air filter from the recall.

As far as maintenance, grab a shop manual and you should be able to figure most stuff out yourself.

when you guys find out what deals they have post them....I'm thinking of getting an FZ6 or a Ninja 650 for the right price....of course I would need to find a buyer for my Ninja 500. I wonder how much it is worth? $3200? more?
