how to register a recovered stolen bike???

Ok here is situation. My friend bought a recovered stolen bike and he now can't register it because its on the stolen list. bike was owned and stolen in Mass, recovered in VT, the a Maine dealer bought it, obtained a Maine title then sold it to my friend. But dealer failed to remove from stolen list. Does anyone have any ideas? This has been going on 6 months now!

Take it back to the dealer and get the money back. If that was me I would have been back there in like 5 minutes and put my foot in his ass. How can a dealer sell a bike that is not legally registerable?

I've seen it happen, but my buddy got plates before they found it on the hot list. The cops wanted it back! He ended up keeping it.

What happened in Brian's case is the guy, I don't remember why but took the bike in for service. Got a new bike from the shop, & reported the first bike that he traded stolen. So my buddy title in hand got his reg. then the cops called him & said that it was hot. & bring it to the police sta.

He has been calling a sgt Lamb in mass that keeps saying he will take it off the list as we have recovery report from Geico and appraisal but this guy has done nothing!

is it the trooper's responsibility to make sure your friend can register their bike? shouldn't the dealer be fixing it?

You obviously didn't understand what I wrote....it is a RECOVERED theft from the insurance company, then the ins company sold it at auction to the dealer. This person is very close to me and I was with him when he purchases it.

I personally don't give an eff how close this "person" is to you. Who buys a recovered stolen from an insurance transfer to said dealer without a title?

Thanks guys for helping ( with the exception of the rude guy that didn't bother to read the thread). Just found out we need to take it nh state police for inspection and they will take care of removing it from the list.

hope this gets sorted out. clearing a title from salvage/stolen is never easy

Bike has been registered and new title on the way! We will never go through that again!

i know a guy that bought A vintage mustang, puy about $100k into it (no bullshit).. come to find out the car was reported stolen in like pennsylvania like ten years ago... needless to say the vehicle is hiding until its all worked out.
