It's been years since I took the BSF. Any info on whether they offer an advanced course around here? Would love to go brush up some skills.

Where are you? You can look up info by state here.

This is the NH schedule. Note the ERC is offered, but dates are limited.

Good Job, Jackie! I wish that I could get my daughter to do it as well. She has had her permit twice, but never seems to be able to find the time for the course, or even just to go down and get her license. I even offered to help get her a new bike if she got her license. She got all excited at the offer, but still has not been able to make it happen. Busy, busy young people... Maybe she will make it happen this year...

Priorities, people!! Haha it's definitely tough with work and everything. I actually don't even have my permit yet - gonna have to find a day to squeeze that in sometime between now and April 6th! But I'm not a very patient person - once I decide I want something, I want it NOW. I bought the bike a couple weeks ago so I'm very eager to register it in my name, get my permit, take the course, and get my license!! I hope this is the year for her, too!!

So easy to get your Moto license in Mass just pass the 20 question permit test then schedule your riding test for whenever you feel comfortable and knock it out. no set time period you have to have your permit for... easy peasy

You should go to your license test on a Busa.

Re: Just registered for the MSF course!!! :-D

Way back when I was 17 I watched a guy on a GL1200 just barely squeak through the NH exam. He had removed everything he could while still keeping it road-legal. He confessed to us that it was his 3rd try.

A guy on a Ninja 900 failed that day. I passed easily on my lil' 400.

A couple years ago I was up at the DMV to get my license renewed and stuck around to watch the licensing test. Watched a kid in his teens smoke through it on a ~250cc dual-sport. The proctor turned to the crowd and said "Now that is how it's done folks!".

Re: Just registered for the MSF course!!! :-D

Did my NH exam on VTX 1300 after watching 2 Harley guys and a guy on a CBR 600 fail. Me, a scooter guy, and a guy on a GN 125 were the only ones who passed that day.

I can pass on the wing.

CBR guy and his buddies, as we were watching Harley guys struggle, commented that it was impossible to pass the test on anything bigger than a 600cc bike. I smiled at them politely after passing (I did have 1 foot down on the offset cone weave).

In MA, go take your permit test and prepay for your license endorsement. When you pass the MSF, they will submit the paperwork and you will get your license in the mail. No need to go take the test again.

    Good luck!

    Can now. Couldn't then.

When I first got on the 'wing I was terrified of it at low speeds. I spent a lot of time doing circles in parking lots to get comfortable. This is fall of 2011 https://plus.google.com/photos/11283...MTuhPz4t4CZzQE

Re: Just registered for the MSF course!!! :-D

Yeah. I suppose the 'wing is kind of a bad example too. As you have pointed out so many times, the thing is a stump puller and you can just roll in gear. I wonder if the old GL1200 (a four) was less so than your 1800 (a six). I've yet to encounter another 2 or 4-cylinder bike that can do that. My Bandit had a chance, but I never learned to master that thing. The 'strom gets herky-jerky at low speeds and requires I slip the clutch. This means I have to multi-task.. which is extra tough for a noob. (Me included.)

The 400 I passed the test on was moderately smooth, but I remember it being top-heavy like a mo' fo'. That and it is a typical 70's Honda; tall.

    Anyhoo, enough thread crapping.

Best of luck OP. Kick some ass. Have some fun.

49 states do it one way, and Massachusetts does it their own way.
