    Registering a bike in NH

I bought a new 2015 DR650S today and this is the first vehicle I'm going to register as a resident of NH. Basically just want to know the process and if any of the forms are available online. The town clerk only takes cash, so it'd be great if someone could also give me a general idea of how much registering the DR will be.

Re: Registering a bike in NH

it depends on the town, there are 2 parts to NH registration, town tax and state registration

most towns are setup to do both, some towns, you pay the town tax, and then go to the state dmv and do the state part, some towns that are set up to both parts only keep automobile plates and not motorcycle plates in stock (in my town, my GF had to go to dmv to get moped plate for her scooter, but they have car, trailer and regular motorcycle plates but she can renew without going to dmv)

town tax is based on value, new vehicle is highest, and the town tax goes down till the vehicle is 10 years old and stays steady (expect town tax to be about $150 per $10k new vehicle value iirc), state registration is based on type and gvw of vehicle, motorcycles are cheap, less than $25 iirc, can't say for sure, my town takes one check for both or a credit card

Thanks for the info. I went on the town's website and it looks like the town reg tax is about $170 for the DR + the $25 plate fee you mentioned.

Cash, check, MO. I don't use checks and I don't have a bill so I can take out an exact amount on a MO, so for me, it's cash only. It's the town of Plymouth. On my way to the town hall now.

Got the bike registered and got the plate at the town hall. Also registered the bike as an OHRV trail bike. I'll post some pictures when I take the bike home tomorrow.

I understand the convenience charge for using CCs. Its one thing to not charge the fee for your own services and take a hit, its another to take a hit on reimbursable expenses

My CC card company charges 2.75% when we can swipe the card and 3% if we have to input the numbers. we charge a flat 3% that gives us an additional 0.17% profit when we swipe and a 0.09% hit when we input the CC numbers

gotcha, i would take that as no CCs since i dont have checks and dont do money orders.
i used to go in and get a price, then walk across the street to the bank and get cash. now i just pay the 2% because its about $2-4

And in doing so, you COULD be bumping yourself into a higher paying fees bracket. NOT percentage, rather based on total sales for any given month. Charging extra like that COULD, in theory cost you more in fees. YES, it COULD happen...

I have not seen anything like that in our agreement, most of our invoices are large, $1500+, so using a CC is a $50 or more hit but we get people to pay in cash more often than CC

Got one last question for this thread...

The OHRV decal has no way of sticking onto the bike. Peeled off the decal from the instructions and there's no way to stick the decal on. Or am I missing something?

I've never had a problem fixing an OHRV decal, even the new ones this year. Peel & stick. I'm confused...
