What are you using them for? Answers depend on that.

I use them for street, but prefer the protection of a race style glove. I can't fuck with my hands, I am a electrician and they are what make me money. And the way I see it, in a fall you automatically try to stick out your hands to protect yourself.

Held Titans or Heroics are the only things I trust my hands in currently for road racing. They're too restrictive for sumo unfortunately.

I have these and the R-Safe. The high racer glove is fantastic. I use them on the street and at warm track days. They flow a ton of air and have great feeling. You are welcome to come take a look at the last lrrs weekend. I'm Mike #772 under the BT1R banner.

Re: So who makes a good pair of gloves these days?

I had a pair of Held Evo Thrux that I wore for 15000 miles until it finally wore a hole in the thumb. My thumb and index would rub when I gripped the bars. I don't know about their higher tier gloves but i went through 3 pairs before I found a pair where the stitching wasn't coming apart. Glad i bought locally which made it easy to exchange.

In the end of last season I picked up a pair of Alpinestars GP Plus gauntlets and this year I picked up a pair of Alpinestars SP-1 short gloves. Sure, they're not as nice as Helds since they are all cow instead of kangaroo palms but I adjusted to them quick. I really like them now. The Sp-1 is particularly nice because they are more convenient for street riding but still protect the bone in my wrist and have hard palm sliders. Only thing I would improve on it is a more robust Velcro system but I think it would hold up if I went down

I can't say how good they are yet but my next pair will be racer gloves after seeing them this weekend.

What's the fit like on those racer gloves? Euro or American cut?

More American I would say. I use a xxl in alpinestars, I'm a xl in racer or size 11 in other brands.

I have Knox Handroids that I've had for 3 or 4 years and love them. I like them so much i bought a second pair that are stored away for when these finally call it quits and i dont see that happening soon.

I'm in a similar boat, and faced this decision before the riding season began. To me, the $ difference between a decent, good value pair of gauntlet gloves and some of the best you could buy was maybe $100-150, not inconsiderable, but as you say, they're your hands...so I bit the bullet and got a really good pair. I ended up with the Dainese full-metal RS, and love them - they fit "like a glove", haha. I've since tried out some of the Held gauntlets and they seem pretty great, I'd seriously consider them as well.

Gear does get expensive, but the two things where I just ponied up were my helmet and gloves.

    Knox Handroids here also !
They run small on sizing. Make sure you can exchange if needed.

I personally look for a glove with hard palm and scaphoid sliders, because as you said the first thing you throw out is your hands.

Re: So who makes a good pair of gloves these days?

I bought a pair of the Racer R-Safe after reading reviews on both the R-Safe and High Speed on webbikeworld.com. They haven't steered me wrong yet in gear reviews.

I'm extremely happy with the gloves. They run about a half size small from their size chart, but loosen up with use. I filled mine with water and wore them for a couple of hours and the broke in very nicely, gaining back that half size (as they say on their site).

I was also happy with the Heroic SP-R gloves that I had for a few seasons.
