How do you repair plastic? :(

Went to go for a ride with my girlfriend to go get Ice cream last night, and my front faring is cracked all the way across.

from lower inside corners of the headlights, under the intake duct.

No clue what happened. Dont see any points of impact, dont remember anything happening. NO CLUE HOW IT GOT THERE. Ill take a pic tonight. Maybe someone kicked it in the parking lot at work??? But like I said, no indication of an impact. Any way to fix it? JB weld?

Never heard of such a thing.

    Irritating that it just "appeared"

On the plus side I took farm road in dover on the way back from ice cream

Best tool to fix it with is a credit card. EmpireGP does good work.

Doing lots of wheelies will mess up your plastics, just ask Half Squid.

Haha, is there a funny story involved?

I don't wheelie too much, maybe some squidly 1' wheelies since the front is so light after I changed my gearing.

from what i was told its not an uncommon thing to happen (regarding the crack in that area). But i'm sure other rc owners will chime in.

Didn't you post recently about mismatched turn signals?

I think the bike is bad luck, better give it away.

Only Kawasaki owners give their bikes away when things go bad.

Honda owners see the issues through.

get the fiberglass tape and epoxy at a marine store

use 3 layers of blue painters tape on the outside across the length of the crack

make a bandaid on the back side with the tape and epoxy.

colorrite can get you the paint but usually be the time you get everything base, color, clear topping you have dropped 150 bucks

I would use their color but black from autostore and minwax urethane varnish for clear coat

For now put some duct tape on the backside and ride the bitch till winter

I'm going to hazard a guess and say Empire GP will probably quote you somewhere around $200-$250 to repair that crack and repaint.

I got a quote from them today, the front cowl on my bike is cracked in two places.. cost to replace is $350, Empire GP says they can fix & repaint for $250.

At the ends of the cracks drill a small hole to prevent them from spreading.

Go to an auto body supply shop and get the filler/epoxy they recommend for the plastic type you have. Use this on the edges of the material to bond/weld the crack shut. Let it set up overnight. On the inside of the piece rough up the surface, spread more of the epoxy with a paintbrush and pat in some fiberglass cloth.

Sand down any of the epoxy that oozed out of the crack, and decide if you need to paint. I’ve seen some of them that are so faint they look like a scratch.

Its sitting in the kitchen patched with JB weld right now.

Heres the crack in question, no stop drilling needed as it goes coast to coast.
