    Repairing an SV1000

I have a co-worker who crashed his 04 SV1000 into the side of a car this summer. The front wheel was stuffed into the radiator. Neither had insurance, so it's all out of pocket. The forks are terribly bent, the lower triple clamp is tweaked. He's wondering if there are any other bikes front ends that would fit on there for less than he's found for SV parts at local dealerships.

In my opinion it needs more than just the front end, but he just wants it rideable again. Any ideas? Any help would be great!

Have Pete @ GMD measure the frame. Front end hit that hard undoubtedly tweaked that frame. Assuming it's safe, then I would refer to SVRACER's web link and start getting some info for cheap swap options. Insurance would probably be a good idea this time.

I have told him numerous times to get it checked out, but he's dead set on just putting it back together and riding it. Thanks for all the sites! I'll let him know.

I gotta say, between that and having an 04 bike without insurance, he doesn't sound like the brightest rider in the paddock...

I wouldn't do anything until having the frame checked. He may be best off parting the bike out.
