I did ride that road. Its nice. I rode around Adirondacks Park last to last weekend and this road is nice, smooth, has some twisties. However at some points you can take the back roads which are even more fun...

Psst....There is a super secret road not very from this which is like a race track!

In fact I have been contemplating going to Toronto myself. I would be up for it is you looking for a ride partner.

Let me know if you need more infor about that route or about camping in Adirondacks.

rt 3 is one of the primary congested cage infested routes thru the Adirondack park, one that I avoid

I've ridden parts of Rt 3. Like Randy says, it's one of the major arteries through the park. The back roads are a lot more fun.

ah... really. i wouldn't have guessed it had a lot of cars. looks like a remote part of the country (like northern vermont....). still, probably more fun than straight highway to toronto. how is the pavement?

The pavement is awesome. However they are right about the traffic. you get a lot of traffic in some places. However as you go west, the traffic thins but then the back roads are absolutely empty and more twisty and scenic. However it would require you to find the right map. I bought a $5 map of the park and it showed only the main roads.

cool. my only fear would be blasting around and then all of a sudden hit a dirt road. but it is a national park. they always get way more funding than they're due. prob explains why the pavement is so nice

the Adirondack Park is a New Your State Park, not a national park, different than most parks, as a majority of the land is privately held, it is the oldest park in the country

I have been on that road many times. Nice ride.
We used to make day trips from Ottawa, cross the bridge at Ogdensburg and head south to Tupper Lake for lunch.
