    Rides around Boston

Hey guys. I'm new in the area and looking for suggestions of 2 to 3h round trip rides leaving from Boston/Cambridge avoiding the freeways. Thanks

Route 2 to Route 62 gives you a lot of options.

Traffic enforcement on the Arborway or VFW Parkway is active and the speed limit on a lot of it is 30mph, so be careful.

Enneking Parkway is one of the best MC roads in Boston IMHO, goes through Stony Brook Reservation.

A Quabbin loop is probably longer than three hours.

Rt 2 out to Concord, there are some great back roads around there.... but you'd probably want a guide for em as they're all off the beaten paths by a bit.

I'd rather ride another hour west of Concord. Too many people inside 495. Not enough running room. Plenty of scenery, sure.

What's the difference between a bolt and a screw?
First you screw, then you bolt.

Concords nice to cruise around but dont plan on any major speed. Especially on the weekends, cyclists outnumber cars around there and cause plenty of traffic jams from people afraid/unable to pass them.

With 2-3 hours you could head into Essex county and zig zag around there for a while. Maybe go up to Newburyport/Plum Island.

Topsfield, Rowley, Essex, are all great towns to cruise around. A few good restaurants if you wanna grab a bite too.

Just gotta know the right roads The cyclists can get a bit annoying, but it all depends on when you go.

Heh, I did a lot of cycling for many years in MA/NH and learned tips and tricks about great cycling rides. Turns out those roads are often good or better moto roads.

Got a GPS? Advrider and other sites have rafts of saved routes.
