Thinking about taking some intermediate level lessons as a refresher. Been riding the last week or so and for some reason, I'm not feeling too comfortable.
Any suggestions? Thought I read something on here last year about a member giving lessons??

Heres a condom. I figured since youre acting like a dick, you should dress like one too.

How many miles have u logged so far this season? How many total miles in the saddle?
I'm getting the new bike next week and the last time I rode was in 1999. I know the feeling of having been away from the sport for a while. Thinking, I'm older and wiser but that all mean crap if some nit wit does not see you and decides to cut you off. There is a danger but you could get hit by a bus crossing the street so.. Just be aware of your surroundings. Certainly wont "hurt" to take a course over again. Knowledge is powor!"Keep your wheels on the ground and your feet on the pegs"! Who used to say that at the end of a very popular motorcyle show?

I'm with bergs, check your tire pressure. A few PSI can make a huge difference in the feel of the bike. Also, might be time for new tires if they are old and dry, squared off, or nearly at the wear bars. Assuming the suspension is in working order and the settings are not totally screwed up, fresh tires, by far, improve the feel of a bike more than anything else.
That said, getting lessons is a great idea. Even just following someone with experience helps a lot.
Panic Attacks
Beginning of season 1st time I felt a push it always was a pucker moment.
Do some panic stops
Do some panic slows and avoidance
and if you can find a place to practice leans do that
Ride in the country pref early with little traffic
Above assumes reliable equipment
Is scary thrilling ? or to be avoided.
When I taught skiing etc my first question is
When you road your bicycle fast down a hill did you yell weeee or AHHH
Glen Beck is John the Baptist
a little beet told me I have to take you for a ride
So when we goin riding?

Or just come and hang out with us sometime, you'll get to listen to Degsy wax poetic about riding... or at least we keep telling ourselves that's what his incoherent Irish babbling is actually about. But seriously, get out there, take it easy, it'll all come good!! Making sure your tires and bike are tip top, is definitely a smart move.
How long have you been riding? And I take it you have an R1?
Could be tires or could be your mind.
If its more a mental thing that you talking about then
like Firebolt mentiioned before, go to ARC then do a track day
right after you'll be much better off for it. Or the second part of the
MSF course.
ARC classes are setup to go back to back with a Track Day
good combo.

Sorry Good Friday for me so I was busy with church , etc. Anyway, tires are like new. I have about 80 miles on the bike this year. I still need to buy a new battery, this autozone battery isn't cutting it so hopefully Monday I can pick one up.
I have a TLR now. R1 last year (about100-200 miles on it b4 wrecking it (sand)) and a 93 yamaha yzf 2 years prior, but that bike wouldn't go faster than 50mph on a good day. All the riding this year has been in pretty heavy morning traffic going to work.
Looked into the track events and honestly it looks like a lot of $ just in gear. I don't even have gloves yet LOL . If I did, I would def be in another r1.
Looking forward to riding with some of you once I get the bike a little more reliable being the battery issue and having Geoff (type911) adjust my chain, the weather warms up a bit and have a few more miles under my belt so I don't endanger anyone. I was in the Dudley section of Roxbury yesterday and saw a few bikers so I followed them for a mile just to feel like a part of a group lol
I think some of my nerves stem from not having collission insurance and worrying about what if something happened.
And finally ... As far as keeping my wheel down...I am! No way I'm doing a wheelie on this. Did it a handful of times on the R1 (half by accident lol) but this bike is pretty heavy and I'd rather keep it in one piece. Geez, that was a lot to type on a phone
Honestly, I thought this thread was about horseback riding at first

What your describing sounds exactly like I feel when I start riding again in the spring. After ~2 weeks Im back in the groove and it feels natural again. Just take it easy until you feel comfortable again would be my advice.
Also the TL is a big change coming from an R1.
It's a great bike, but takes some getting use to.
Check your tire pressure. Even 5 or 6 lbs down will make the bike feel wobbly and unstable...
