    Riding pants

So last summer i rode in jeans, i crashed in them and they held up decently, my keys which were on a mountain clip on my side saved my ass, literally as well as my phone clip which was in my pocket so i have decided i want to get some riding jeans, i don't want to get leather or perf. leather pants, i have a suit for trackdays, just want pants to ride in everyday, just curious if anyone has any experience with any brands or certain riding jeans, how they fit, feel, if the kevlar knees are annoying etc...
    thanks

    Re: Riding pants

cortech makes 2 types that have knee pads built in. The extra protection is waht sold me on them as compared to just the kevlar lined 'sliders'. They had some tears in a bad crash I had, I couldn't tell exactly how bad since the paramedics had to cut them off of me. Without them I probably wouldn't have legs right now tho. I just bought another pair.

    Re: Riding pants

Icon are just aramid reinforced, no pads. The cortech are aramid and have the ce approved pads in the knee. I can't say anything about the comfort of icon, but the pads in the knee are a strong selling point IMO.

    Re: Riding pants

I got the Icon ,they look like regular riding Jeans with that "Kevlar' lining around the knee section ,stretch and vents in the right areas and they are High rise so no worries about your underwear showing when you tuck ,oner all perfect fit and comfort .
but still went out for the full leathers just to be on the safe side something about fabric vs padding and knee-pucks .

+1 on the Icon - I have used them for a couple years now and they have held up well though I have never crashed in them. They don't have any armor just double fabric in the knees but they seem to be well put together and triple stitched. The stretch panels make them far more comfortable than jeans or anything else I have ridden in.

My next pair will have some armor in them.

I have an extra pair of Fieldsheer perf leather riding pants. Never worn...just tried on. I'm 6' and about a 34/36 waist. Fit me fine. PM if interested. Great airflow and protection.

+1 on the Cortech armored jeans. The knee pads are what sold me on them because I wanted additional protection. They look just like normal jeans and you cannot even see the armor. I had a slow speed lowside in them and there was not even a scratch on the jeans...and the pads saved my knee.

    Re: Riding pants

I got cortech as well. Comfortable for riding, not too hot. I dont really like the cut of the pants though, I wish there was a boot cut version, they always get caught on my boot. But whatever, small price to pay.

    Re: Riding pants

Yea, I was thinking about going 90's raver route and opening the inseam and stitching a triangle in there to open the bottom up a bit.

Yah, thats my thought. I cut a little bit of a boot cut in there, but its still not enough.

    Re: Riding pants

I have a couple pairs of the Cortech riding jeans (Mod jeans, i think). I think they are probably better than regular jeans, but not by a whole lot. As long as you're cool with the trade-offs. I find that even though they are cut a bit longer, you might want to go a couple inches longer than normal.

I think the knee padding is a bit gimmicky because the padding does not stay in place to do much good. And the padding is a bit awkward IMO.

    Re: Riding pants

Bought some jeans last year from Red Route ( http://www.red_route_jeans.co.uk/ ) because they they offered the most protection for the size I needed (runs a few sizes smaller than Cortech or Icon).

Was really happy with the quality when they arrived, fully aramid lined and got the CE armor option while being tailored to inseam. Really thick well stitched denim that looks the most like a standard jean.

Thing is the rise didn't fit at all, the waist size was right (still a little big) but the waist came up to five inches above my waist. I'll blame that on my trying to order men's jeans when I really need a women's cut (which now they make, I should try em again).

Even coming from the UK with inseam tailoring everything was really quick- worth checking out.
