Icon does make quality stuff.....but to me the brand caters to the 'urban' street rider. The designs are a little too jazzy for me....

I have ones by shift called the Havoc, they're leather and textile mix, knee pads (no pucks) in the liner, good ventilation, over-boot. They zip straight onto my Shift Avenger jacket, however they do not zip to my Speed and Strength jacket (different zipper sizes).

Olympia. Currently the one of the only gear manufacturers that makes quality overpants that have full length (like to the hip) side zippers.

If that isn't a big deal, then Firstgear pants are a good alternative.

The Fieldsheer "Mecury 2" overpants I have also have the full length zippers on each leg. They also have liners that work quite well in colder temps. I have only ridden in heavy (and I mean REALLY heavy) rain once, and they kept me perfectly dry. I like them just fine.

    Re: New riding pants

I have a pair of TourMaster pants that I have been pleased with. At this point most of my closet is either TourMaster or Cortech. I believe that their stuff is decent quality for the money.

My advice is to ignore price and get what you really want, no compromises. Otherwise you'll be buying again. I know because I have done this.

Expect to replace the zippers on whatever you buy in a couple years. My Tourmaster Caliber pants look and function like new....except for the zippers. Getting changed out right now for heavy duty ones.

I got rid of 1st Gear TMG's for Olympia as the full length zippers are much more convenient. Had them since 2007.

But I replaced the knee pads with the "big" ones from Aerostich.

Dainese makes some air pants that are as good as you would expect from them.

I have 2 pairs of joe rocket pants. Both have zippers up to the hips. 1 pair is 5 years old, the other 3 years...still in great shape. the 5 yr old pair has gone through 1 minor lowside. you would never tell...

my joe rockets are easily 5 years old as well, and function as brandy new. not crash tested, but plenty of miles (over 25k) on them.

I've been in snow sleet and freezing rain and stayed completely dry and comfortable with the Macna Pants. Some day I may relinquish my Warn dry and Scorpion for a Macna if I can not get another Scorp.

    Re: New riding pants

The Macna stuff is really nice but it is a very european fit. I typically wear a large in shirts and jackets. Bought a large Macna Oasis and it is tight. I would highly suggest trying on anything you plan to purchase in their line.
